There seems to be a variety of ATF check temperatures posted from 95-130 F but the gen 3 service manual states 95-113 F.

You definitely want you check your transmission fluid. Especially the first year of a new generation. My 2016 came from the factory one quart low.

Looks like 95-113F is the correct temperature.

Ok, that section in your document, section 8 "ADJUST AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION FLUID TEMPERATURE (WHEN NOT USING DTS)" is really helpful. I just tried that. Brilliant.

Annoying to pay $25 for 48 hrs, but you can download a lot of stuff. Just print to PDF and save it.

I grabbed pretty much every document I could for any repair or maintenance I might need. Took about 2-3 hours to do that manually.

I only saw owners, warranty, quick start, etc manuals there along with Emergency Responder guide. Are the service manuals available if you create an account?

I found the gen3 Tacoma manual online which covers 2016 an on but I'm not sure if there is a newer version for 2023. I know that there is no pin 13 on the OBD2 connector from 2021 and up which changes the ATF check procedure a little and I'm not sure what else may have changed. by 2023.

It's the factory service info site, everything available for every Toyota/Lexus/Scion model made since the 90s is there.

2 day, monthly, and yearly subscriptions, I have a yearly because I use it alot.

PDF and paper manuals pretty much went away in the mid 2000s, pretty much everyone has gone to an online subscription model for service info because of the sheer volume of information and also changes/corrections/TSBs can be made/added in realtime.
If you find a PDF anymore it's from someone that bought a subscription and went to the trouble of downloading everything page by page, often this info can be out of date.

We have this issue in the 2nd gen section with the transmission fluid check procedure, the commonly found 06 PDF has the check temperature at 115-130F but Toyota changed that temperature in 08 to 95-115F because the higher temp resulted in underfilling the trans. They issued a TSB for models 08 and prior and updated service info for all subsequent models but many people still find the old incorrect temps and go by them.

Yes, they are there with the account. But you can't just download one large document- you have to manually scrape the damn thing to get the pdfs, and those have links to other documents all through them. It's run by Snap-On, so of course they want you to do the annual for $500 so you can just click your way through it. Maybe some enterprising soul will do the hard work and release the whole file, but I doubt it.

Srry, factory service info is expensive especially for the DIYer but Toyota is actually on the lower end of service info cost at $488/year. Factory service info for domestics is well over $1000/ year, Ford is $2800/year.

There's DIY versions of AllData and Mitchell where you can buy a year for a single vehicle for under $100, they have 95% of everything found in factory service info and it can be printed/downloaded as well.

A garage I go to said that for Fords, they get a 2 year subscription for $45 for 1 VIN. I think that's for their equivalent of Techstream. Not sure what repair manuals are included in that but they used to have All Data for everything else.

I believe your thinking of GM progamming software, they are the only ones I'm aware of that sell per VIN and it's only SPS2 (module programming only, no diagnostics) that they offer like that.

I do GM and Ford programming and Ford only does 2 day, 30 day, and 1 year subscriptions for both their programming/diagnostic software and service info, GM does per VIN for programming, 3 day, 30 day, and 1 year for diagnostic and/or service info or 1 year for the complete package of diag software, programming, and service info.

We have Mitchell where I work although I like AllData better as it has OE wiring diagrams and is a bit easier to navigate.

wonder if the garage has a per VIN access for just the Ford software (Techstream equivalent) and not the publication library?

If they do then they know something the rest of us don't because no auto manufacturer I know of licences their diagnostic software or service info per VIN, GM is the only one I know of that licences their programming software per VIN. Everyone else is either time based unlimited vehicles or pay per use.

He could have said Ford by mistake instead of GM. I was inquiring if they used Toyota Techstream but they don't.

Yea I've never used Techstream either, I can use it with my J-box if I needed to but my scan tools do everything I need so I have no need for it and I've never needed to do any programming on Toyota's other than changing the VIN in a used ECM which most scan tools will do.
