    Hi guys,

2013 owner with low miles 32K.

Want to check the front pads and see how much material is left. Ill take the tire off, but wondering what to look for when checking out the pads?

    Any tips, thanks!

Good video, but that is a floating caliper like a 5 lug Tacoma. The 6 lug Tacoma's have a fixed caliper.

This is a first gen fixed caliper.Very similar to the second gen fixed caliper.

I’m not positive, and @Jimmyh might know, but when the little groove in the pad is no longer there.
It’s time for pads. I don’t know if this is the “correct” way, or the remaining pad is at “Toyota Spec Minimum Limit” but it’s a good indicator.

FWIW, I didn’t watch the video. So the answer might have been in the video.

It is a good rough indicator.

    INSPECT PAD LINING THICKNESS

    (a) Using a ruler, measure the pad lining thickness.

4X4 and Prerunner front pad thickness:

    Standard - 11.5 mm (0.453 in.)
    Minimum - 1.0 mm (0.039 in.)

Base 5 Lug pad thickness 2 wheel drive:
    Standard - 12.0 mm (0.472 in.)
    Minimum - 1.0 mm (0.039 in.)

Yeah, next I do brakes. I need to measure.
    Not the actual groove itself.
But the Pad material between the backing plate and grove.
Just to see if it’s 1.0 mm.
