Probably better off in water than snow. Depending on what the bottom is like.

We stay the trail around here. No cutting new trails. No exceptions. Period.

    Yes!

Guys going around and making their own trail is likely a big reason the pipeline has been closed off in some areas.

If I can't get through, I turn around. Sometimes I even have to back out!

Didn't want to sound like a dick.

Leave no trace is the most important rule of trail riding. There aren't many places left because people don't follow that rule

Seriously, you'll be fine. The big rocky hill is not much further than that, and I'm not sure if everyone will want to attempt it.

There are tons of different types of roads to explore up there.

No-one will make you drive through anything you're not comfortable with. And, if anyone gets stuck, we will help them out.

I'm interested, however the later weekend would not work. Vote cast for the 13-15(yes I did the poll)!

Edit to add*** I have zero real off road experience. Driving our ski hills(tyrol basin) doesn't count.. Nor does the BLM dried lake bed in california in a FWD dodge mini van... Was a passenger when my friend buried his 2500 tall sprinter in sand though first time seeing snatch straps when a durango pulled us out..

Not to speak for anyone else, but I wouldn't be too concerned - some routes will be more technical, but this wouldn't be rock crawling. Besides, there's no better way to learn than getting out there!

A good shovel, some traction boards, and airing down your tires (having the ability to air back up, too) will get you through most things, in my opinion...having other vehicles present is the biggest advantage overall.

    Awesome!

No worries about experience. This trip will be a year from the first time I ran the pipeline. I did what I could and backed out of what I couldn't.

We'll just do what we can. No pressure.

    Agreed!

This isn't too technical. I've done everything so far in a bone stock 4runner with KO2's.

The biggest thing to remember is that we will not leave anyone stranded.

I have street tires. Ok Revo AT’s . Not a super aggressive tire. It handles well at 100mph on the highway. I might need to add a shackle or 2 on the front. I sit way lower than everyone in a stock trd off road. The Trd sport (2017) has 4h/4L but no locker or crawl. It’s a highway version of a Off-road. “Slow and easy.” No sliders and with sport stock suspension I’m nervous of getting stuck or breaking something major. Tires are stock size 265/65/r17 on original sport wheels.

    @Thatbassguy
Not sure if I can make it. August 18,19,& AM on the 20th we wil be camping for the 1st time with our dog. He doesn’t play well with other animals and to my knowledge, never went camping. I hope all goes well and we don’t leave after night #1 due to the dog. If I go it’ll be a very last minute decision. More than likely my wife will be pissed if I go without her. Ha.. and pissy if she comes with. Lol.
Just count me as a no and I’ll cross my fingers and hope to pull out a miracle and go.
Maybe just day trips and brewery tours for me.

    New poll.

    Dates are set.

I checked out the campgrounds and I think Boulder Lake should be everything we need.

There are bathrooms with plumbing, shower houses, and there should be plenty of space.

I haven't picked a group site, but it's first come first serve after labor day so I'll just pick the best looking one when I get there

The site is about $75 a night, which I will cover. Depending on how many people come, we can split the cost appropriately. If we end up with a smaller group, I might consider splitting up on a few regular sites.

I might try to get up there on Thursday, the 12th, to claim a site. If I do, I'll also probably get firewood and water and whatever else I can do so that when everyone else arrives, they can just focus on setting up tents and relaxing.

If anyone has any questions or ideas, post them up.

    I'm getting excited about this!

I'll be up there Thursday, the 12th, to claim a site. I'll be exploring Friday, but I'll probably make it a point to be at the site by mid-afternoon to greet anyone who shows up.
