How is it going in NC? I would much rather be there than in Illinois.

Going really well, I settled in! All we had was a few snow flakes while hiking at Lake James.

It's supposed to be in the lower 60s again next week.

I am waiting for my fiance's brother to get done fixing his Chevy so we can go. He currently is re-building his diff and working on getting his transfer case back in working order. Seems like something is always broken on it though

I have a "trip" brewing the first week of May that would be cool to get a bunch of guys together and go :anonymous:

Hi all! I've been lurking on the forums since 2012, but just joined today. Now that the warranty has run out on my '13 DC TRD long bed and I've had enough time to think about it, I'd like to do a few mods. I have little mechanical experience and zero extra garage space, so I would definitely need help (professional or friendly) with completing some of the things I want to do. If anyone has any recommended mechanics/upfitters near Wheaton/Chicagoland, or would be willing to work for money and or beer, please let me know!

What are some mods you're looking to do?

    In no particular order:
    Wheels
    Tires
    Small lift/helper springs
    Front bumper
    Fog light mod

Depending upon how that goes I might want to tackle the following:
    Heated mirror mod
    Cabin inverter
    Air lockers
internal air compressor and holding tank.

    Thoughts?

My fiance's brother might be able to help on some of the electrical items at a good deal. I can talk to him and see what he says.

Lift can be tackled with help of a few people and a couple hours depending on what lift you go with. The owner of Chitown 4x4 runs wrench nights once in a while that you could take advantage of.

Interesting story around gas mileage. I recently pulled a code for a friend at work with a GTI. He had a MAF error and we pulled the sensor. I won't say it was caked, but it was coated with a mist of what appeared to be salt dust. Even with a paper filter, it seemed to get through. He didn't want me to clean it, it was still under warranty and he took it to the dealership.

A week later, I recorded my worst tank ever. It was cold and I had some recent 4x4 with the snow but it wasn't anything I haven't done before. This weekend I cleaned my air filter and the MAF and what a difference. I haven't gone through an entire tank, but the Bullydog shows the MPG for each trip and it is significantly higher.

Just an FYI if you MPG is getting worse than what you think it should be.

I have done fog light mod, anytime inverter, and dome light. All pretty simple. Im no electrician ( if u catch my drift). I would love the heated mirror mod though
