Yep and I felt silly throwing new tires on stock wheels so figured do new wheels and tires and sell take offs as a set, still might just throw the stealth’s on there. Kinda torn. Like em but not in love either.

Meh, they make a ton of sense. Throw a set of RCV's in and you can wheel 40's on a two inch lift. Not saying I would buy one but I understand why they sell so well.

Probably not. I'm not sure that the modern Toyota is much better though. Your 1997 Tacoma is a product of 80's and 90's bubble era engineering from Japan, the likes of which will probably never be seen again. Things were absurdly overbuilt for road applications so they translated well to offroad strength. Now things have been cheapened up and the era has passed. Just look at the difference in tie rods from a first gen to a second gen Tacoma. Hell, the V6 third member is still in use today on the production line with zero changes since making its first appearance in 1986. Interiors have cheapened quite a bit and manifested in cracking dashes from the mid 2000's in cars and RX's.

    Most

I just realized that the two times I've wheeled with you and spotted, you've broken u-joints. I must be a shitty spotter.

Really? You were there for the buzzards roost break? I know I broke a winch wine beaching my truck after I tried to follow you and you got the rocks all wet and muddy.

Any 3rd gen Tacoma owners have their windshield replaced? A rock shattered my windshield and I’m looking for recommendations in the chicago area suburbs to take the truck. Thanks!

I’d take it to the dealer, they often can match safelite in price and TSS may need recalibrated. Plus oem glass.

I’m used to it after living 6 years in AZ, replacing your glass yearly was the norm especially with the soft 3rd gen glass.

After searching the forums and seeing how many windshields have been replaced, I’m not surprised it happened to me. I swear on my 3rd gen 4runner I’ve had some super hard hits and not even a scratch haha.

I’m in Skokie, just north of Chicago. I was probably just going to take it to Arlington Toyota?

Everyone here complains about salt and paint you should see what driving in AZ for a year does to your paint / glass. Chips galore.

Couldn’t imagine seeing the front of my car looking like it just got sandblasted after a year of owning it. I guess I can’t complain too much then haha.

I’m the same way, but you’re a better man than me, I still lose sleep over it haha. Maybe after I own it for a year, I’ll get over it

I used to be that way and then my ex, friends, dad would point out how silly I was being over a truck. I’m a bit OCD though too. Life is too short to sweat the small stuff.
