I actually built this with leftovers from my shed. The wife wanted chickens for Christmas a couple of years ago. The chickens pretty much free range in our back yard all day, but they are locked up at night do to opossums and raccoons that roam the neighborhood. On piece of advise I would give for building a coop is to only give them a couple of nesting boxes. They will all use the same one! No need for 5-6 boxes! Ours get all kinds of leftover vegetables. They love celery, tomatoes, strawberry tops, and lettuce. Fantastic eggs. Also, build the coop tall enough for you to walk around in!chickens.jpg

They've got pretty effective gyroscopes too, once something gets their attention.

That's funny. They are fun to watch, quite dorky usually. They run like they're gonna do a face plant... no arms to balance their weight.

de-badged, tint front windows, led interior lights, door sill protectors, led b/up lights, 5" factory step rails, yellow turn signal bulbs, added 4 D ring tie downs. Took off the black vinyl stripes between the doors. Changed the grill - from Custom Car Grills, Finally got a tonneau cover put on. 31" light bar ( white & amber ), tailgate light bar, sunvisor covers ( to hide warning labels ), new bedside decals - still too cold to put them on tho. Flag decals to go on too, again too cold still. Got a 2 switch, switch plate to replace that useless cubby hole to the left of the steering wheel.. still to be installed ( hopefully this weekend ). Upgraded the tires to G/Y Duratracs... loving them, no plowing the driveway !!
Its more like keep them in a cool place unwashed - they will keep for months that way, without being refrigerated.

If she is allergic to chicken eggs, she should be able to eat duck eggs. There is a difference between the 2.. I forget what it is right at this moment.... but she should be able to eat duck eggs. We used to have an elderly couple that would come buy some duck eggs because their daughter was allergic.

I am just outside Toronto... Yes it gets cold & snowy up here, biggest problem is just keeping the water from freezing, other than that, no heat lamps used in the coops. Heated waterers is the way to go
