I keep thinking about building a coop and keeping a few (4-5 maybe). I have relatives that do and they say they're really easy to deal with. Might look into it more after this winter.

Great design. I would carry that hardware cloth into the perimeter on the ground 24" out, prevents most critters from digging under. Just throw grass seed on it and it'll disappear within 2 months.

I like that design, did you have a plan or just DIY? Also looks like the chickens have satellite dish...man they are spoiled;)

Thanks, Done, we used heavier gauge fencing going out 2' comes in under and wraps around the 2X4s on the ground.

Thanks, All DIY, after looking over numerous pictures, we built what fit our needs, area, and budget.
Hell, we don't even have satellite TV!

The plan is to build the boxes inside the coop. My research said that chickens don't really like the ceiling opening over head and many external boxes tend to leak at the hinge. And if it turns out they don't like that setup I can still go with the traditional boxes. The pic is during construction and shows where we plan to put the boxes.
Your welcome to use my ideas:cheers:

No doubt. Totally worth the “problem” of having too many eggs.
