I just bought my 2009 Tacoma DC LB last week and love it. It too beeps when unlocking or locking with the remote - which I hate. Save your $50! Here are the programming instructions for turning the chirps off (or on) - the lights still flash fine.

    a) Open the driver side door and insert the key into the ignition cylinder.
    b) Within 5 seconds, remove the key from the ignition cylinder and reinsert the key and turn the ignition switch to ON.
    c) Wait 10 seconds and the system will enter answer-back buzzer switching mode.
    d) Within 10 seconds after answer-back buzzer switching mode is started, press the unlock button twice on one of the remote transmitters. This will change the answer-back buzzer setting (on to off, or off to on) to activate or disable answer-back by buzzer.
    e) Remove key from ignition and enjoy peace and quiet.

    Enjoy!

not to many, love it the way it is
I put a piece of electrical tape over the little black box that beeps under the hood. it is right next to the battery. you can barely hear the unlock/lock beep now. I still like to hear its but it not loud anymore

I like that idea Old Soul. I'll turn it back on and try the tape.

    great!

I had initially just unplugged the box and stuck it in the glove box but it messed with the " electric windows operable after the truck cuts off option" I really like the option to roll the windows up after I cut off the truck off and take the key out of the ignition...

Yeah I did this a few months ago because the beeping was waking my apartment neighbors up. Worked fine on my 09 :D

This procedure still works for 2012 models too! Just did it to mine and it worked perfectly.

So were you guys really able to turn off of your seat belt chime on a 12' and a 13' using these steps?

    a) Open the driver side door and insert the key into the ignition cylinder.

    b) Within 5 seconds, remove the key from the ignition cylinder and reinsert the key and turn the ignition switch to ON.

    c) Wait 10 seconds and the system will enter answer-back buzzer switching mode.

    d) Within 10 seconds after answer-back buzzer switching mode is started, press the unlock button twice on one of the remote transmitters. This will change the answer-back buzzer setting (on to off, or off to on) to activate or disable answer-back by buzzer.

    e) Remove key from ignition and enjoy peace and quiet.

There are many threads all over this site saying that the only way you can do it on 12's and 13's is to go through the dealer. I'm going to try this on my 13' OR this weekend, hope it works!

I found this thread while doing a search on this very problem. The method mentioned above did not work on my 2013 Tacoma with OEM keyless entry. I took it to the dealer and while they were able to turn off the seat belt chime they told me they could not turn off the keyless entry chirp because that option was not accessible through the computer.

The programming procedure outlined above didn't work for my truck but I think I outsmarted the keyless entry chirp anyway. I found the speaker mounted behind the driver's side headlight and unplugged it. No other effects from this mod so far.

It didn't work on mine either. Tried five times and started feeling foolish. I will just apply tape to the chirper.
