If you hate looking at it then take it off,
you can always put it back on...unless you throw it into the dumpster like i did

That scoop and some color matched bumpers have swung many a customer, no doubt.

In my case, it was the only access cab on the lot and I didn't want four doors.
If there's been an OR AC on the lot in any color I didn't find offensive, I would have driven it home.

    Slim pickins with AC's.

Indeed it is. As is, to an obviously lesser extent, the air dam / chin spoiler.

I often wondered if the chin strap was put on cheaper trim levels to get some guys to pay more for a truck without it.

That's not what Toyota sees. Big Data will conclude the skewp drove sales, so 4th gen's skewp will be bigger.

This is 100% pot calling the kettle black of course

I bought a knock off of the TRD front skid plate that looks pretty good but the seller said that it requires the removal of the air dam to install. For now it's sitting in my basement waiting for me to install it since winter. I don't have a garage but good weather is coming so soon I'm not going to have mine.

1 MPG difference! When I added it (doesn’t come with the OR) I gained 1 MPG and then lost that 1 MPG when I removed it and installed the TRD skid plate.

I got it for clearance, though it held up fine after 3 years of wheeling. :notsure:

Exactly...Toyota's reason is because people will pay for a non functioning hood scoop because it looks good...Customers wouldn't knowingly pay for a chin strap...

I took the chin strap off just for looks. It's a truck, not a sports car. I ended up trading an old work buddy out of a slightly used TRD skid plate & put it on. It appears to my untrained eyes that the TRD skid plate makes the lower front more aerodynamical and might offset the mileage lost. If not, the more aggressive look to the front end was worth it.
Heck, now I've got a 2021 Limited with a TRD skid plate that only sees the woods in hunting season.
