Title says it. it was a sad day yesterday as a rock just barely missed my windshield but still chipped paint down to bare metal. I want to get on this right away today or tomorrow before it has a chance to get funky on me

I’ve had one of those chips for 6 months now. Still looks the same. Honestly there’s not much you can do to completely fix it without sanding down the area around it and repainting/blending it. Which will also stand out. I can look at almost any car that’s been repainted and tell you that it’s been repainted. I hate the thought of repainting a vehicle because it’s almost always noticeable to me. I just live with mine because I don’t want to try to repaint and make the paint blend perfect. Even repainting the entire panel would stand out against the rest.

I’d just grab a paint pen from the dealer and cover the bare metal up

Any kind of sealant would work fine. I'm surprised you got out to look. It must have been a big rock!

I would dab a small drop of Rustolem primer into the chip first. Then followup with a drop of touchup paint a day later.

    I'd recommend ignoring 'someone'.

Touch it up properly and drive on.

It's a vehicle you apparently use, not a trailer queen.

Clean the holes with some rubbing alcohol and drop some touch up paint on it. You will be fine.

Yep. Just make sure you don’t paint or seal it up with any flash rust on the metal either. Use some kind of Rust Destroyer first.
Color matched paint pens work great but i’ve also used nail polish to seal up a chip in a pinch too....

Look into Dr Color Chip. Way better than a paint pen IMO.

I’ve had multiple chips for close to two years and they look the same as it did when it happened. I wouldn’t worry about it.

You could even use nail polish , just dab it and forget about it ,the first one always hurts

Scotty Kilmore from youtube says modern cars are zink plated covering it with a touch up paint or nail polish will work well. Don't sand it down as I've done this on my wifes lexus and I saw a little bit of rust forming.
