It works, but I have to replace/fix it. It slipped and the fan sliced a chunk out of it. It's high enough up I can cut it out and put a coupler on it. Then secure it better.

Hey there, been doing some research and came across you build. I just picked up a used shell off CL so now I'm looking to upgrade the bed. I like your idea of using a carpet for the bed.
I have a couple of questions..
    1. Did you have to special order the carpet at HD?
    2. Were you able to use the carpet over the wheel well? or just on the flat part of the bed.
    Thanks for your time.

    Well, good news/ bad news...

I got into a car accident.

    aa1f2c4d4423e56935366358bd671b7d_cc0d42738932a37b9e05b7adfafa2c1a98384f0c.jpg

No one was hurt, but her Scion xB was messed up. Busted fender, head light, hood, and bumper.

    The good new:
Her insurance was quick to take full liability and cut me a fat check to cover the damages.

What did I do with the money? Run out and get it fixed? Nope, I gave all of it to Relentless for a new rear bumper. I am going to protect my truck!

I ordered the new wrap around bumper, high clearance with the hitch behind the license plate and a dual swing out with tire carrier and dual jerry can holder.

The countdown has begun... 4-6 months from now, I will have a new bumper and a more things to post in here. I did have the cut outs for rear lights added, so I will be buying them soon.

All and all, I am currently out $17 to order the bumper. Will need to paint it, get a flip up license plate holder, and replace my springs.

I did email Dunbar Springs in downtown Phoenix about rebuilding my springs with the lift and ability to handle the extra weight.

I do plan to sale my CBI dual jerry can holder, as I won't need it anymore... or will I? I do have two water and two fuel cans... water on the inside in the CBI holder and fuel in the outside.....hmmmmm something to thing about.

Received my Redline Hood Struts today (a day earlier than expected). Should be able to get them installed this afternoon. One of my helpers will be down for nap time, the other one is chomping at the bit to help.

I have a few other things in the works. I am trying to coordinate getting an elocker skid plate... wait, I don't have an elocker.... I have that in the works too. Then springs.

Still looking for ONE 17" sport rim. I want a matching spare.

Last week has been spent on my bike, getting ready for the big ride.

After this weekend, I will have skid plate, switch, and ECU. Just need a few more dollars to go pick up the elocker axle. Most likely will rebuild it (seals, bearings, brakes, etc), because I can, and then install it when the springs get here. Oh should have ordered speed bleeders for it when I ordered them for my bike... doh!

Although there is a small issue with the driver's side making contact with my aux fuse panel mount.

Closes fully, but I don't love it. Will have to think about a solution.

Nothing a Dremel and some zip ties wouldn't fix. I am happy with it now.

Other than changing oil, what are you planning these for. In the middle east the weld the hood closed to seal against dirt :anonymous:

Convince for when I am under the hood. I am planning to change the valve cover gaskets and do a timing belt change this fall. It's nice not to deal with the rod. It also holds the hood up an extra inch or two.

Well, half the carpet I lined the shell with is falling down. It's the side I used 777 formula adhesive spray on (recommended by tons of people). The side I used the Liquid Fusion adhesive spray, from Michael's, is holding just fine. So I ordered some Yakima Tracks, figured they will help hold the carpet in place. When they come in, I will reglue the carpet on the one side, install the tracks and then put it back on. I plan to hang webbing straps between the track screws, this will give me a place to hang stuff. Don't know how much I will use it, but I have the webbing and just ordered some eyelets to put on the straps to increase their strength and longevity. I also ordered some marine grade bedit tape for sealing the shell. The rubber "heavy duty" stuff I used before just didn't do the trick. I don't think the shell was heavy enough to get the seal I wanted.

Sounds like a good plan. I have had the same rotten luck with that 3M 77 adhesive spray. I've used it in a number of projects and have always regretted it. lol
