Well the Sequoia decided I haven't spent enough money on it this year. VCS error lights came on last week and I started getting a squeaking noise under the hood.

Initial error codes pointed to exhaust issue on passenger side. Replaced both O2 sensors and that cleared all but one code. Now it is P0430, "Catalyst Deterioration". I don't mess with exhaust stuff too much, old and rusted equals PITA. So time to take it in.

I believe the squeaking is coming from the AC compressor. Yeah, another thing outside my wheel house, guess its good its going in for something else.

Last time I had it in the shop they said the R&P needed replacing. Seeing it wasn't leaking and felt fine, I decided to let it ride. While I was under it replacing the O2 sensors, I checked out the R&P. The boots are shot, what's left is barely hanging on. 250k miles, I guess it is time to replace it before it fails... guess I should do this while its in the shop.

This is going to hurt my wallet.

The Tacoma is gone... Long Live the Sequoia!

Welp, after almost 10 years it was time to let the Tacoma go. It was a good truck and I had a lot of adventures in it, many that will never be forgotten. However, as we grow and our needs change it was time. I picked a very clean 2004 Sequoia Limited. This will be mainly my wife's vehicle. I have already started to modify the 02 Sequoia for work needs.

The 04 has a few things for me to do, but only to fix issues and set it up for towing the ToyPod.

Wow! I haven’t updated this in 4 years. Sincle selling my Tacoma I haven’t been on here very much, also my life changed from a desk job.

    So what has changed…
The 2004 Sequoia was sold two years ago. We have been a one car and one motorcycle family. Amy was in an accident over a year ago totaling her Triumph, luckily she wasn’t hurt, just banged up (always fully gear up).

The teenage boy bought a 1994 F-150, manual, regular cab. Lots of maintenance things to do on that. Just waiting for him to spend his money on parts and not fast food all the time.

We are moving, picked up 25 acres in Missouri! So goodbye AZ. So much to unpack here, maybe I’ll update more once we get settled in MO.

Now what brought me back here for more than a quick scan or the classifieds? We bought a Tundra! 2007 Tundra SR5 with 271k miles. Well cared for, loving the room… it is bigger than our 02 Sequoia.

It is 99% stock. Not for long. Right now is minor stuff, today I changed out the tailgate strut. A few little things on order, like hood struts.

planning to update the dash cluster, stereo, remote start and she needs shocks!

The guys on tundras.com have tons of info too. Modified the rear seats so I could access behind instead of just under… such a simple thing increases storage. Thanks guys, didn’t even know I needed to do that

Next update should be sooner the 4 years.

the squeaking turned out to be the clutch fan housing. Replaced everything the belt touched and got it back on the road. How the housing got bent I will never know.
