Give the fan a spin, it should spin but have resistance and not keep spinning when your hand leaves it.

Do the wooden dowel test described above.

I’d look at the belt from the side. It should align perfectly with everything it touches, not being pulled sideways onto a pulley.

Since you’re a professional at it, I’d remove the belt, spin every pulley, idler, tensioner. They should spin feeely, no notchyness, no wobbling.

Remove the belt, start the truck... if noise is absent, you now just have to narrow down which accessory it is; if noise is present... time to re-think the plan.

Not necessarily. Mine does the same thing. Squealing noise but only at idle when cold, goes away once warmed up.

All the time you have replacing parts some twice and you don't want to try a 5 minute test . Good luck .

Lets make sure you don't own a manual transmission with the chirp only present when there is no pressure on the clutch pedal?

Ya I've had a manual Tacoma and FJ cruiser that had that, I know all about that annoying chirp and it's not that. Trucks auto and It sounds more of like a belt squeal

So just an update incase someone else ever has this issue I can save them lots of monies and tiiiiiiiime!!.... It was a super hot day, A/C was on, then the belt squeal came on for a bit lounger than normal, then it stopped, then the AC stopped working and then a really bad smell started blowing from vents. Soon after got the AC button flashing and my AC clutch was fried. But on the bright side... NO MORE BELT SQUEAL!!

Did you need to replace the belt? I had a compressor go out, smelled like burnt clutch material. Opened the hood, smoke & sparks were flying out of the compressor, the belt was shredded.
