Tacoma is stock and staying that way, Pickup is TBA as of now.
My 04 started doing this recently and it's driving me up a tree. Does anyone else have this problem? Sometimes it does it, and sometimes not. Is there an easy way to go about stopping it without ripping the whole dash apart? It's getting to the point where I'm probably just going to quit using the heater altogether and just bundle up and deal with it. Even the radio can't drown out the noise.

You might post a video on it. That could help.

Probably the blower motor if it goes away or changes the sound when you turn the vent speed up or down

    +1 on this^
Mine does this too, its a chriping noise that changes with the fan speed. You can pull the blower which is held in by just a few bolts under the dash on the passenger side, super easy. Mine had a bunch of pine needles and such. It helped a little but its back again so im going to try and oil it a little and see if that helps. Worst case is you get a new one for $40 and be done

I vote for not using the heater !!

Then remember to keep both windows open so the windshield does not fog up

I went without heat in Wyoming Montana is not much different

Mine chirps to. Amongst all the other small noises a 20 y/o pickup makes it's surprisingly quiet. When my gf rides in my pickup (she has a practically brand new Mazda) all the little noises bother her some. Lol. I'm used to old vehicle noises. Shows character ha. Easy to replace the squirrel cage. Maybe you have a squirrel in there. Storing nuts for the remainder of winter. ;)

Just a bunch of old crap
Don't oil it. Drop it down, clean it out with compressed air, then use graphite powder in the center.

I used oil that's meant for electric motors. Same stuff that I used on a pellet stove electric motor. Worked for quite a while until I replaced the motor. Amazon. $15 for a new cage

    It's your blower motor.

Mine used to sound like a rodent orgy.

I was going to buy a new one (around $45) but was given a used one that doesn't make noise. For now.
