I've got a chirping-like noise coming from somewhere under the hood. It only does this while the truck is parked or stopped at a red light. I opened up the hood to see if I could see anything obvious and couldn't find anything. It's hard to tell exactly where it's coming from but my best guess would be right behind the engine.

Has anyone had this noise in their truck? If so what was the cause? I'm due for my 15k service soon and may take it in early to address this noise.

Sounds like its low on some blinker fluid. Or the kanuder valve is leaking.

Sounds like you may have a high pressure fuel pump issue on the passenger side of engine, There's several threads under chirping fuel pump that address similar sound. Toyota changed my pump a few months ago and resolved the chirping noise however, I see where several owners are getting the run around at the dealer.

After I do some more research on this I may end up taking it in next week sometime. The dealership I went to did the shifting TSB for me no questions asked when I told them I wanted it done. So hopefully if it's a similar issue to these others they'll take care of it

I brought a repair order from another TW member having the same problem and getting his pump replaced. There was no argument and the $1400.00 pump was changed. I have heard of some others having the noise return. I understand the ethanol in the fuel is effecting some of the pumps.

Would you happen to have that post/repair order handy so that I might be able to use it?

On his post right now actually. From the video it sounds exactly like the noise I'm getting from mine.

That'd be awesome. I'll try and get it in to the dealer this coming week and if there's any issues I'll send you a PM. Thanks for your help

Even with the repair order they won't replace it. They're giving me the same bull shit that it's "normal" I'm going in to pick it up but going to give them a lot of shit telling them that it's not fucking normal.

Ya. I'm gonna try south coast or longo. If I get another "it's normal" I'm calling Toyota corporate.

For warranty work, Toyota pays about half as much as the same non-warranty work. Also Toyota reimburses the dealer for the part at cost, so the dealer can't mark up the part 30-40% like when the customer is paying.

Toyota tech confirmed chirping and suggests its not normal. Service advisor says its perfectly normal for a high pressure fuel pump.

Will wait to see what the shop foreman says on my next appointment. In the meantime, been doing research here and can confirm that most folks are getting the run around.

The service advisors at the dealership I go to are very, shall I say, "investigative". It really feels like I have to prove to them that there is really something wrong. They are quick to dismiss a customers concern. A perfect example is my issue with the loose driver side window. I informed him that it is extremely loose when its about 1/4 rolled down. Immediately dismissed my concern and said it's normal without doing any inspection. Pissed me off. Told him to get off his ass and check it right now. Of course he didn't.
Based on the notes from the technician, he confirmed that it was extremely loose and that there was only 1 contact point left holding the glass.

That sucks, I couldn't tolerate that chirping noise coming from that pump. As I indicated, if it's normal then all Tacoma's should be doing it and therefore I probably would be driving a different make. I checked several 2016 Tacoma's with the 3.5 while at the dealership getting service and the new and used car department and none had fuel pump noise. I think Toyota has come up with a lame excuse and as I read on TW several other owners are having the same response by their dealer. Keep us posted and best wishes.

Ya. The guy I talked to said this was the first one they've gotten with this noise. He checked for any recalls and TSBs but obviously there was none. I'm going to call the foreman tomorrow, I wanted to talk to him in person but he was on a test drive that was taking way too long and I had to leave. I'm either going to take it to another dealer or just call Toyota corporate and give them a shit storm. The noise drives me crazy as well. I can hear it with my windows up and the music on. That certainly is not "normal" operation as they are claiming.
