Figured I ought to post a build thread for the horunner. This all started after I got my 02 Tacoma as dd, best decision by far. So Finally got to working on the sas. Plan is dana 44 front w/ chromos, 14 bolt rear welded, 5.38s, duals, flat belly, ruf, flipped 57s and some 37-38s. Oh and keep it as low as possible.

    Hopefully ride height
    [IMG]
Front spring hanger I had made, thanks to Damien at MOBS fab
    [IMG]
    Front axle
    [IMG]
    Tear down
    [IMG]
Long side tube had alot of dirt in it, cant complain the axle was free.

The infamous 14 bolt, this is one heavy bitch. The day I picked it up.
All tore down for the most part and ready for the disc brake swap.
Clean 3.73s, to bad they wont work for what I want.

Dana 44 vs 14 Bolt

Some of the stuff I ordered from sky
    [IMG]

Today my stuff from barnes should be here so I might be able to get the rear kind sorta mocked up here soon, progress has been slow due to work and school.

    updates to follow

Few hours in the shop and got the axle cleaned, disc brackets on, and one hub cleaned and painted. Still need to cut off the stock brackets and shave the plow on the bottom.

More progress, the ifs finally fell out. Now starts the long tedious task of cutting the brackets flush and grinding.

Discovered an easier way to remove torsion bar bolts, sorta.

Also got the rock magnet out, thank god there was a drain plug. Got about 10 gallons of old gas out of it.

    Cleanin parts

Got some tires the other day, 18/39.5R15 Boggers. Not my first choice but they'll do just fine.

Yeah it was funny having all four in the back of the tacoma, down the road will be 42-44s but that will be a long time. Way more things tht need to happen for that.

The plan is to have it on a trailer going to URE by memorial day, doubt that will happen but who knows.

What does? So far I think I have about a grand in everything so far, still needs steering, dual cases, drive shafts, shocks, and some tube. The rest will be, all the stuff needed adds up to about 2-3k I think.

Those tires. Unless you got em for a great deal, which you probably did.

My sas cost me around 3k on my old 94 pickup, although $250 was due to my dumbass torching of the break lines

Traded my old tires for them, only cost was 40 to have them dismount so the other guy could keep his wheels. Think I got a lead on a set of wheels for 80 bucks, then theyll just need beadlocks.

Yeah, cutting brackets off with a cut off wheel is not fun. Next sas will be done with a plasma or torches. Mainly waitin on funds to continue with other things. Should be bringin my buddies welder to my house and were gonna get most of the brackets burned in here soon.

Oh yeah, auto tech in high school spoiled me with a plasma. Who needs wrenches when you have a plasma. Should be working on it tomorrow, gonna see how pulling the transfer case and transmission go.

Needs a clutch pretty bad and going duals, plus they need to be cleaned up and some seals need to be replaced. Before I started to like rocks I liked mud, underside of the runner is pretty nasty.
