Stock for stock, the rubi will outperform the taco because of the front locker.

But dump 10k into an IFS taco and I'll be darned if it won't keep up with a Rebelcon

I agree, and I've said as much in this thread. Great if you are going .002 mph over sketchy terrain. Possibly THE best at going over sketchy terrain.

If there was a medal for doing that stock, it would be given to the stock wrangler.

really? like keeping the ifs or going solid axle for the 10g? That i certainly could see. But an IFS taco with 10g keeping up with rebelcon? I iz skeptical haha.

Now this is just personal preference, but in the end I would still rather have a solid axle tacoma over a solid axle jeep, just because I like the truck aspect of it.

agreed. nothing come out of the box, and is that available to the public more equipped to crawl that a wrangler/rubi.

If his experience is the same as mine, he will have multiple shocking vehicle failures that won't leave him completely stranded, but will leave him furious and dumbfounded before then.

SAS does not mean better than IFS. The only advantage with SAS is cheaper parts, and less moving parts=less potentially of something breaking.

But a fully tuned and built IFS can go anywhere a SAS can, just not as easy or cheap.

Stock 4x4 dc taco and stock 4x4 rubi just aren't the same. It's like the dude who bought a ram and said "shame on you toyota!".. it just makes you go "Huh?!?"

One is a truck made for long term reliability and overall capability, and the other is made for supreme off-road competency and... well not so good long term ability or loyalty. When its offroad though, the owner will be thrilled. That is the appeal.

:confused: uuuuhhhhh. Im going to say no. The flex out front is always limited compared to a SA rig. Sure you could get the back to be equal, but the front would be so far behind it would be dumb. And who has 40s on an IFS truck? Biggest I see is the 2nd gen guys with 37s...and silas.

If a Rebelcon had 35's, an LT front locked 4x4 on 35's will keep up. I've seen it.

Such an ugly POS... If it weren't for a need to routinely arrive at my intended destination, that would be my vehicle.

I'm not an offroad expert, but I have seen 4x4 tacos arrive at places a stock vehicle never should have.

Anything more than that would be a purpose built offroader right? No one is arguing that the wrangler isn't capable offroad. IT IS. But 99/100 times the taco keeps up and goes the same places with or w/o mods.

Not to mention retains its value and almost certainly lasts much longer while almost going everywhere the jeep does.

Heep does look pretty good.. gotta give it that.

99/100 times a taco keeping up means it's not a "difficult" trail. Just like saying 99/100 a pre runner kept up with 4x4...clearly not really doing anything overly difficult. And when you are building vehicles like that you probably are not thinking too much about "retaining value" when it is purpose built to go out and get wrecked. You no longer base value off of the general auto market, you price it for the toy market if you want to sell it. Gotta remember here...im talking high end of the spectrum...like the rebelcon jeeps on 37s with triangulated links and coilovers, where the only way for a taco to keep up is to ditch the ifs, and then you are not comparing them fairly.

It sounds like we are agreeing. Again, anything more than either vehicle 4x4 stock is pretty much a purpose built offroader. And I'll bet 99/100 times a new stock taco 4x4 driver can follow a new stock wrangler driver wherever they go.

Higher than that is irrelevant. Want to compare Wrangle LT to Tacoma LT? Me either.

Haha I only started this tangent because he pulled these things out of his ass, and I was referring to high end stuff.

Let's see, stock wrangler against stock taco, both with only rear lockers. That would be a fun match up. however I think the taco would lose solely due to the rugged fails
