    If you don't have 110v in the bed: I used to run a couple strings of lights on my 4 runner using the trailer plug (running light pin).
    They sell some christmas lights that run off a 9 volt battery for putting on the dinner table, etc if you poke around the stores. Even though the lights were designed for a 9 volt battery they worked fine on my 12V system. Just clip off the 9v battery holder and wire it up.
