Oh shit...if that's a rule on AF bases as well, I was completely unaware! Reckon I better check on that.

Well, this is a sub base where nuclear capable missiles are stored. I believe radar detectors are not allowed on any base. When it comes to dash cams, they will stop you at the gate and will witness you delete everything from the camera. What's even more ridiculous is only aftermarket camera's apply. If you own a Tesla, for example, then it's allowed because it comes factory and you cannot remove them (easily).

I have been wanting a dash cam for years, would be nice to have. I really wanted it when I had the GoPro mount in my 2017, sucks Toyota removed that as well. Radar detector, not so much because I've learned I can go 9 over pretty much everywhere here in Georgia without any issues. Still wouldn't be opposed to having one though.

True. I had an alert with the gashole and a few other things. You have the fill plate installed on yours? How's the install? I assume fairly simple to do.

Give her your truck for a day and let her hire a photographer to go do a personal photo shoot with her and your truck and make you a calendar with your truck and your girlfriend. Doesn't have to cost a fortune and you get a really one of a kind gift.

    Sending you a PM

    Neat idea!
I'll probably hold off on the photoshoot until after I get ceramic coating though. Can't have the girl look better than the truck!

I've done 4 cross-country trips in the last 10 years (WA. to FL. to ME. to AZ. and everywhere else in between) VA. is the only state where radar detectors are illegal. (Not counting if you have a CDL)

I looked it up after I posted that. VA and DC are the only areas. Sorta wonder why that is now.

I don't really know about radar detectors as to how they apply to military personnel or on a military base, so I can't say. That's probably a whole `nother ball park.
But as I mentioned in another post, having done 4 cross-country trips in the last 10 years ..The cost of a detector has probably saved me 3-4 tickets. (Probably, cuz you can't prove a negative, right?) ... Especially in Utah, and to a lesser extent, Montana...

Revenue? LOL ... Who knows ... I'm not sure how much either is enforced though. In 2018 the wife and I did a Civil War Battlefield road trip... And the majority of that was in Virginia ...
Well when you cross the state line, there is a huge sign 'RADAR DETECTORS ARE ILLEGAL IN VIRGINIA!' Well, mine is dash mount, but I can also mount it on the ceiling about 6' behind the drivers seat.... Not as sensitive, but still works, especially on 'Highway' mode.
It just isn't visible. So, I took my chances. Got a lot of 'hits', but never got nailed for having an active detector. Anyway, after 10 days of being in every corner of Virginia .. Whether on an interstate or on the most 'back-roads' you could find, never had a prob.

I had one, stopped at a truck stop to get weighed (company move), and the guy was like "i'll weigh ya, but you better turn that detector off..."

How they had a counter detector detector IDK, but they knew I had one and it was out of sight.
