Gonna replace the chrome badges with black ones...is there a market for the chrome ones?

    Trash?

Anyone who has done this recycled their badges in any useful way?

Use black overlays. Leave the chrome ones in place underneath.

Meh.... Ive seen them and just dont feel like they would hold up over time. But then again, I have no experience with them.

    Got any experience with it?

The 3M adhesive, at least on the Toyota OEM overlays will last forever.

The overlays make the emblems go from a standard looking font to a bold looking font plus some of the numbers and letters (the A’s for example) are filled in and look strange in my opinion because you don’t see the underlying paint in that spot.

Thanks for posting this, I've been contemplating the same thing. However, more recently im thinking of just removing the chrome badges and not replacing.. I like the debadged look more and more. Still very much undecided tho.

I did that to mine and they look good. The fit is tight so the 3M adhesive tape doesn't have all that much work to do. That said, they've only been on for 3 weeks.

Did that ... still didn’t care for the look so I just ended up removing them completely and replacing existing tailgate badges with the black oem versions.

    Stock, 4WD, Access Cab, White,
    OP, consider a another option.

These things are just chrome plated plastic. Remove the badges, chemically etch the chrome, prime, paint, 3M double face automotive tape, stick back on the truck.

This way your cost is lower and you can make any color your heart desires. An easy way to Personally Customize your truck.

I replaced mine with black vinyl decal “badges” from @CBoy808. Posted the stock ones in the “pay it forward”/free stuff thread. They were spoken for in under an hour.

Once you remove the badges the adhesive is trashed. But hey, one man's trash is another man's treasure.

This is a possibility. Do you know if the back of the badges are hollow? Does the 3m tape create a space between the door and badge?

got a pic of what these look like? Are you talking about like a sticker cover over the chrome?
