I'm trying to get rid of my truck's chrome rear end. Does anyone have any experience replacing the chrome rear bumper with a black plastic one similar to the SR's bumper? Will they match the black plastic fender flares? Looking at part numbers 5215504010 and TO1105133. Seems like a cheaper option than Bumpershellz. Thoughts?

I just plasti-dipped mine, 18 months later they are still holding up. Cost $6.

Nice! Looks like the replacement can be had for about $47 which is good too. I think I might have just answered my own question here so I'll post some of the data I found. Below are "questions" from a website selling 5215504010 and TO1105133 which is easy to find it you look but I wont give them free advertisement.

I have them on my OR. They are a little rougher texture than the flares but match the rear bumper black plastic pretty good. I think they look great. Can't go wrong for the price either.

Good to know! You went with OEM unpainted? It has the added benefit that I can sell the chrome ones I pull off too. How was the install for you?

I plastidipped mine as well. When/if they start chipping I'll probably go this route. I can't stand the chrome on these things, maaaybe on a limited....maybe.

I maybe misunderstood the post. I just got the covers(bumpershellz). The chrome is underneath mine still. They look look pretty spot on with the fender trim tho.

Oh okay. I originally bought the Bumpershellz covers but they are about $150 and ended up canceling and ordering the OEM unpainted black. Hoping it's like the SR bumper and off-road flares

If you are lazy and have lots of disposable cash like me, then go with the bumpershellz. Super quick install and they look great. The textured black ones are a spot on match with the stock black bumper.

Bumpeesheellz TPO is the way to go. Here’s a close-up photo of of TPO on one of my previous Tacomas. The OEM black bumper caps don’t look nearly as good.

Thank you for your feedback, that does look awesome. What makes you say OEM don't look as good? Are they not a perfect match for the rest of the bumper?

OEM is a smooth black finish, TPO is a lightly textured finish that matches the bumper step and OR fender trim better than OEM.

    My truck with TPO bumpershellz.

A few years ago I broke one of the chrome corners off and replaced it with a black OEM end because they were cheaper than a replacement chrome, I then installed the bumpershell cover over that because the TPO is the better match to the step.

OEM black bumper caps are a matte black that does not match the inner part of the rear bumper. The color, texture distinction is pretty clear in person.

They say on their website that they won't fit a 2021... not exactly sure why because they look identical.

I think the OEM are designed to match more with the fender flares.

Here’s an example of the OEM black bumper caps over time:
