Well I finally got a job and am pretty happy about that... So I went out Friday and purchased a humidifier from Lowes. Went downstairs today after reading instructions to look things over. Pretty unfamiliar with Heating and Air systems. Noticed the air conditioning lines that went to A-coil that instructions talked about. So I opened it up to look and noticed that interior presented some clearance issues. So only two options one is ideal except for exhaust vents. The other option on opposite side will have to work. Only issue I have is that way ducts run through house that side favors rooms we are hardly ever in. Not sure if all systems are the same duct wise above unit but there isn’t much room above A-coil to mix in humidity. I’m sure it will mix in but thought I should ask if I should try to work it out that humidifier is on side that goes to more important rooms?

Ideal side but cutout needs to be higher up than paper I’m holding up. A-coil inside is making contact with enclosure just below paper. Humidifier is pretty big and probably can’t move up much because of exhaust duct.

Anyway what do you think? Will it mix fairly evenly if I put it on other side or should I shoot for ideal spot? Thanks!

The humidified air is going to make it to all the rooms. Don’t worry about that. Put the humidifier on the side that works the best and is the easiest to install on. I had to cut my jigsaw blade off to make sure I didn’t hit my coil. Which humidifier did you buy?

Not sure of the one you bought, but the kind I use puts the moist air into the main trunk that feeds all the little runs so it doesn’t matter which side you put it on. Even the ones that have just a fan on the exterior without the tube will do the job regardless of the side you put it on.

Humidifiers work great. Also fire cider/Amish black plauge remedy.

That is a kind I tried this year. It works.

I work in the hvac field, the humidifier in the duct work sounds good on paper. By introducing humidity there causes water scale and rust in the duct work, not the best idea. Maybe look at a self contained whole house humidifier stand-alone. Or try a pot of water on the wood stove.

If your basement is musty put a dehumidifier down there.

In my experience it depends on the house and ensuing you’re setting the correct humidity for the outside temps. Ive used them for years and never have the issues you listed. I’ve seen it though in other homes where I believe they didn’t maintain them and use them correctly. Also having your ducts cleaned periodically is important as it removes mounds of dust that collect moisture. My suspicion is really nasty ducts are the cause of rusting ductwork.

I would agree with you totally. In my opinion that is enough reason not to do it. Much easier to just get a self contained unit

    None... yet.
Wife just bought two humidifiers for the house (one up, one down). We all have noticed a positive difference in terms of dryness, bloody noses, mucus, etc. Downside is we are having to buy a sh!t ton of distilled water.

Also, oregano oil and spicy foods, honey, and ACV ftw! I've started mega dosing D3 along with K to offset the winter blues and it seems to help!

    How's your furnace air filter?

Here's a good tea recipe that will clear out congestion. Place the following in a coffee mug:
    1/2 tsp ground thyme
    1/4 tsp ground ginger
1 tsp honey (just estimate, don't measure)
Then pour about 1 cup of boiling water over the mixture

For a sore throat. Try gargling warm salt water.
