Due to the nature of churches (just like charities), the system is bent to make it easier for them to do their jobs (helping people). Unfortunately that bend in the system is easily manipulated by dishonest people (Ted Haggard, Jerry Falwell, etc.) and it's tough to question without sounding like an asshole. Cancer is rampant in my family but I won't donate a cent to cancer research because too many pigs are getting rich at the trough. MADD is as corrupt as anything else out there. Churches are arguably more corrupt than anyone.

All these institutions operate under the guise of honesty, decency, and goodwill toward man, but very few of them can be trusted to efficiently carry out their advertised duty. Even fewer are actually effective. Taxes would help keep (though would not solve) the corporate greed mentality that exists at their highest level of management.

Tax the fuck out of the churches.

My dad works in the building immediately adjacent to this church, Cathedral of Christ the Light, in Oakland. He was able to watch it being built from start to finish, and he somehow got tickets to the dedication ceremony when it first opened.

If you didn't know, this church has an absolutely amazing pipe organ built into it. The organ was extremely expensive; $2.5 Million Dollars for design, manufacturing, and installation.

As you can see, the architecture of the church is really amazing... but the base, as you can see, is concrete. According to a number of people at the Dedication mass, the acoustics in this place are awful. In some spots it's extremely difficult to hear the speaker, in others, there's echoing and distortion. Pretty unfortunate, when you consider the cost of the organ alone...

Basically the entire point of this post is to address that last sentence... As it turns out it's probably much harder for god to hear you if you pray from this church.

Sorry there were so many odd statements, devil's advocate and not answers from then on, the actual opinions were hard to find.

But again, I have to point out that you still only focus on one part of a vast group of statements, points, questions, comments/opinions directed at you.Probably easier to just pick and choose. ;)

I agree with this statement of yours as well...

Unless I am mistaken , the only other question you asked was to produce a list of countries founded on atheism , correct ?

    False

Fact: The way the supreme court sees it, tax exemption protects separation of church and state.

Ask yourself this: Does taxing a church create LESS involvement than not taxing one?The answer is no, therefore tax exemption allows better for separation of church and state.

How can you express freedom of religion if the government taxes it? You can't.

You can't tax a 'religion' you tax the income, property, and buildings.

It doesn't matter what the constitution says if all the people deciphering it are religious

the word "tax" is thrown around a lot in this thread...

in context of this thread, I assume those opposed to the current tax laws in the US, mean property assessment tax.

    correct?

btw, are the property assessment tax laws same/simular in Canada?

sounds like you need a history lesson.

fun fact: the founding fathers of the US were deists, not christians.

most of us also do not sit here all day/every day.

however, you were willing and able to discuss until you got caught with a BS edit.

also, one liners such as the one above don't advance your position.

Answer the first question. Also it would be taxing the religion. Their income has already been taxed by government, why should it be taxed again? I am fairly certain that the person putting their already taxed money in the offering plate doesn't put that in there so our greedy azz gov't can tax it again.
