if they do the flat tax is done right it should be on what you spend only. and not your in come. if the poor buy nothing then they are not taxed. the flat tax addresses the national income tax only. the states still have the right to asses their own taxes; which would include propriety :D

I'm not using anybody's mantra but my own .

So , the non spun short answer , seems to be , yes , it would increase taxes to the poor and less fortunate .

In that case my first comment remains , that it puzzles me how someone can reconcile raising the poor's taxes , but arguing against property taxes for churches because of their charity work for the poor

we need to change from an income and assett taxation system to a user fee tax system (a nat sales tax)

however, most who support such , do so only with the elimination of property taxes...capital gain taxes...dividend taxes...death taxes...ans of course ALL income taxes.

it would clean house in DC...clean up the system...and make all who participate in the adventure we call America have skin in the game.

no one would be raising taxes on the poor.

the poor don't buy plasma tv's or 3K in bling wheels for their ride.

How would their taxes not rise if under the current system they pay nothing and in a flat tax system they pay on everything ?

    Maybe I'm missing something here

    yes

you are missing a lot on the fair tax issue.

they would pay a national user fee on most purchases...that NONE of us currently pay. if they can afford designer shades today...a few more bux is not going to disenfranchise them under the fair tax system.

as I posted...essentials for the poor would be exempt.

they would not be buying yacts and jets and luxury cars and luxury homes...that's where the real revenue would come from.

    I wasn't arguing that point .

I said a flat tax would raise the poor's taxes .

I seperately said that all property owners should pay property tax .
