Strictly speaking for myself , I do not hate " God " , but I also don't believe in a God as defined by one religious sect or another

Higher power , God , Spirit , Allah , whatever , I think there is something to it , but blindly following one colouring book flavour over the other is just not me

Actually, the deity God is fairly consistent amongst many religions, with only the names (God, Allah, Elohim, Jehovah, Brahman, etc) differing significantly. Of course, not all religions believe in the same followers or sub-deities. For example, Jews don't believe in Jesus, while Christians don't believe in Muhammad.

Jews believe in Jesus. Jesus was a Jew.

Jewish people who follow the religion of Judaism don't accept Jesus Christ as their savior. They don't believe in the resurrection.

    define "taxes"

    sales?
    income?
    payroll?
    capital gains?
    property?
    investment?

and define to whom they should be paid

    state?
    federal?
    city?
    county?

I believe there is some higher power , spirits , continuation beyond our terrestrial existance , so yes higher power " God " , no " religiously defined God "

    thanks

chuches that sell product pay state sales tax
employees of churches pay income tax
churches as an employer pay payrol tax
churches who invest for profit face capital gain tax liability like any corporation
most churches are excempt from property assessment taxes

    And I wholly disagree that:
"Religion has taken welfare from the American people"

    Also,

comunities struggling to meet budgets to keep fire fighters, police officers, and teachers employed...has more to do with public union contract obligations and pension legacy costs than any church tax exemption.

    Wow...lol
We have a lot of other problems in society than churches!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Sure there have been some catholic priests who have done some horrible things to children that I do not agree with. But:

    How about high gas prices?
    how about rising food costs?
how about health care costs rising?
how about no jobs and bad economy?

Those are the things that effect ALL of us. Not churches and taxes. I think the least of our worries is churches.

(but it is funny reading everybody's comments I have to admit) Keep them coming :p

    I see that way^^

We have so many things screwed up in our country right now that we need to fix. I don't see how taxing a church could solve anything. I honestly think it would be ridiculous to tax one.

How can our country have freedom of religion if we tax it. <-- that happens to be the understanding of the supreme court. Also, churches being tax exempt allows for better seperation of church and state than taxing would.
