The scene from the Lion King where Rafiki spreads the berry juice on Simba's head comes to mind, but with diff oil or something.

    Congrats!

Why round 3? Your heavy truck just keep eating brakes?
That's similar to mine. Works great to clear my tires. I recommend a 6" cut off wheel because otherwise getting the ends of the cab mount off is a huge bitch.

Yea pretty much cuz heavy biotch. And I’ve been using EBC Brakes since replacing stocks in 2014. Also a lot of mileage on mountain roads.. I don’t necessarily have the pleasure of down shifting :bananadead:

And plenty of PPE! I was sketched out as fuck using a 6" disc on my 4.5" with no guard, but I just wore a shit load of PPE and hoped for the best. Still have all my fingers so far.

Here’s a look at bolt on sliders removed 4 years after install. I’m removing to clean them up, skin the top like a step, and repaint, as well as coat the frame rail and plates with anti-seize like butter on toast. Not saying the corrosion is that bad but it’s there and if I let the sliders stay bolted on longer than it would most def manifest to frame rot. If I was to do it over again I’d do weld on sliders. And no I’m not gonna cut this set up and weld them on.. wanna see how all the anti-seize does. Possibly next go around I’ll weld them on if I get the same corrosion results.

I’m about to do the same thing. Think anti-seize will work better than coating the contact points with fluid film?

Someone mentioned fluid film as a barrier last night but I’ve always been thinking I like the consistency of anti seize and thinking it will last a while in there.

I like it. Never thought about using anti seize. I know fluid film is supposed to last like 6 months or so, wondering if it’ll last longer after everything’s bolted up or if it’ll just wash out. Obviously moisture gets in there.

Hell I might do both fluid film & anti seize.

I added fluid film to my BAMF bolt on sliders prior to install about 3 years ago. Of course this is SoCal weather but I was still concerned about rust between both surfaces. I might remove them next week to see how I fared. I’m also wondering if a heavy bearing grease would work. My tub of Lucas bearing grease is bigger than my litttle bottle of anti seize. I’ll see how bad it is first before weighing my options.

I Fluid Filmed my frame and sliders before and after install as well. Same thing, in O'side at the time but still a concern.

If you do end up welding them on, modify the feet first to be like weld on sliders as opposed to just burning them on. I had the conversation with @Mobtown Offroad about welding on bolt on sliders, and it's not quite as effective. I don't remember the reasoning (he explained it in depth) but something to think about.

Plus less area to weld and less frame will be covered, decreasing the potential for rust.

There was minimal rust on the frame underneath my weld on sliders when I cut them off to get the frame replaced.
I think the key is to make sure they are completely welded all the way around the frame plates.

Oh yea definitely. I'd guess you want the plates welded as close to the legs as possible, to keep twisting and movement to a minimal.

Yep, that was essentially the reason. I have weld on sliders and love them. We can lift from them on the 2 post lift and they don't move a hair
