I've seen those guy's report. They only looked at 10 cigars they picked out, which isn't enough of a sample IMO. Of course a cigar can show signs of plume AND also have mold.
I've had obvious mold from my destroyed humidors, and I've also experienced what was described as plume, and plume was very different from the mold growth, and was just a tiny round white speck that just flicked off. The mold had a definite green or blue tinge to it and had a "spreading" look to it.

In the right conditions I’ve never seen either. And I own and smoke a lot of aged sticks. I’ve had moldy sticks from people, but none from my own stock.

ETA: that being said, I’m not a scientist and don’t plan on doing any investigations. I’m just going to keep smoking. And if it’s light mold or plume I’m going to smoke on.

Probably see how much take home I have after the extra 8 hours of x1.5 and 8 hours of x2 I'm putting in this week.

I will continue to read through this, love a good cigar and a bourbon. I have found a few favorites that are Cuban and from others countries.
Living in the mountains of SW Colorado, I am always fighting to keep the humidity up. About every two months or so when it drops below 65%, I have to clean out the humidor and re wet the inside of the box and retreat my moisture containers, but I live in about 20% humidity so it continuing battle.

    Favorite place to smoke

So buying from la casa del Habano is a pretty safe bet? That’s where my sis got those for me in Germany and I have another friend going to Puerto Vallarta in a few weeks and is stopping at the shop there. Thinking of picking up another sampler or two from them.

Ashton is quality, I like the Cabinet series they tend to be in the mild category, however ifen you like a full bodied cigar try the VSG

Yes. For smooth, quality cigars in a mild category, Ashton, Dunhill and AVO are my go-tos.
(When I have the coin to buy them. They ain't cheap.)

Quality, but a bit too $$ for how mild they are..IMO
like the Miller Lite of Cigars...which..is ok...
if I am spending that coin, I wanna fresh craft beer straight from the Vat..something with a little more strength. (so to speak)

but...very well made cigars none the less
