I appreciate you looking out... I have recovery points (front TRD stock, rear hitch insert), CB radio, and factory T/A's. Do you think that setup is still lacking for the trail's mentioned?

On a side note, I've ordered a full skid set from SOS and looking to purchase a 3" lift in the very near future.

The trail I'll be on is relatively easy. Only one questionable spot and that shouldn't be a problem when it's dry. The rest was easy even when wet. I have a friend going in an almost stock Jeep Liberty. You should be fine. High traffic area, so help is never far away but highly unlikely help would be needed. I've done this stuff for 45 years and sure wouldn't deliberately get myself into a clusterfuck....or drag anyone else into one. Just a relaxing ride in the woods, not an epic adventure....Mostly rock base on trails with the occasional water puddle. Those may be scarce with dry spell we've had. Good "learning trail".

I have a winch, and there should be one more (at least) Won't be an issue getting in and out.

Goal is to keep moving most of the time and cover some distance. Purposely avoiding tough stuff that would slow anyone down much.

2 friends ran same trail last week in a nearly stock Range Rover and a VERY stock Land Rover Discovery.

I appreciate the last part of this... I'm still in if we can get enough people.

In general, I trust most of our group to not let each other get too messed up. One of the things I value the most about this group, actually.

Is there any reason to bring extra fuel on this excursion? I haven't prepped for a trip like this, and I will be a long way from home. Any guidance on the supplies necessary would be a huge help!

I also hope to have my new camping gear in hand before tomorrow, so I may stretch this into a two day trip.

Gas up before we go in woods and you'll be MORE'N good enough. Won't burn 1/2 tank..... Bring lunch and plenty drinks/water. Whatever recovery tools you might have. I have PLENTY of that sort of stuff already. Lots of camping spots, both campgrounds and "primitive" in the woods. It won't be a major expedition.....

Excellent! It's has been several years (read: 10+) since I've been down to RRG. Used to backpack a bit back in the day. Usually went with a group and didn't drive.

With that said, where should be establish a rondevu point and at what time? I'm guessing I will need to buy a park pass at a gas station for access , and camping.

The trail Bill wants to run is the DBBB that lead us to the lake on day 2 of the first RRG trip. The one spot that Cody slid and got hung, and where I moved to allow a winch truck to come around and got myself stuck using my rear bumper as a shovel lol

Here's where we start talking about it: https://www.tacomaworld.com/threads/official-2nd-annual-red-river-gorge-meet-slade-ky.482016/page-72

It runs on into the second time out to RRG, when we did a much muchier trail. We didn't know it at the time setting out. But it turned into an AWESOME adventure!

I'll let you know when I can get there. Point A is a Sysco gas station as you pull into slade.

Goal is 0900. Not sure if that'd be doable just yet.

    Married.

I don't or won't get anyone in over their heads. I don't do that. If for no other than selfish reasons, I dont want to spend my day digging someone else out of a stuck.

And I wouldn't appreciate anyone doing that to me.

Whatever the confusion, I wouldn't put anyone in that position. Trails are easy one's. Just site-seeing picture taking mode.

The only place I see that has even the potential to be tough was where Cody got stuck. It was wet and slick . dry it should be pretty much nothing.

Shewmaker Ridge trail.....option is to go out to retreat cabins like we did in June. Goal is to go back out the way we came in. Start early....out early.....trail ride.

Not sure of protocol here, but I'm planning to bring the wife. Also, 09:00 = 06:00 departure from Cincy for me! Yikes!

Do you mean this gas station: GO TIME @ 12056 Campton Rd, Stanton, KY 40380

Let me know what the plan is for RRG and I'll see what I can do to be available and make it. Definite Maybe. And I'm going to go light as possible with my camp stuff to gain some ground clearance.

Also, my bumper is shipping today from Pelfreybilt. :bananadance::bananadance::bananadance:

Yes, I think that's the one. If you veiw on Google, should have a good size parking lot adjacent to it, sits next to the parkway
