The ideal situation would be to buy a large property, and rent it out to groups like US who are wanting to use it for that purpose. Much like the airport here in Connersville, they have the hangars, the groups or individuals rent the spots....and bring their own tools and planes. Meanwhile, the airport offers onsite fuel and other fluids at an insane profit margin.

trick would be finding other groups...Jeepers, crawlers, like that in the area who'd want to rent the spots.

Edit: However, the city owns the airport and hangars....so....................

Similar thing here at the Huntington airport.

One of the drafters just left us and went to a "competitor" of sorts. They're renting the space in an older hangar and turning it into office/production space. Won't even house a plane.

I think the rent is cheap for the hangars, the difficult part is raising the funds with a plane, to pay for the rent....so the members of the flying clubs have to divy it up and fork it over out of pocket. My old boss is the treasurer now and they are doing fly ins and rides for a fee. Also offering pilot services to the local "Professional" photographers.... (you know, the chick with the Starbucks coffee, uggs, and a $5000 camera).

When I read "professional photographers" I immediately thought of a couple wannabe instagram pros I know, and your description matches them perfectly

It actually makes sense to go after the dumbest, and their money. So much more willing to fork it over.

Hey man....there isnt much industry in our little town. All the side hustles are well represented here...hahahahaha

This is why I don't claim to be a photographer. Too many people buy a dslr and pretend to be the next big expert on camera stuff. Just because you spend a couple grand on equipment, doesn't make you a photographer. I know too many that do this stuff, can't tie their shoelaces, and go charging people exorbitant amounts of money for pics they take with their $800 camera with no training, auto-adjusted in lightroom, but now they're an artist all of a sudden. Half of them couldn't explain the exposure triangle if they tried.

I enjoy taking pictures, but am not a photographer. I am not formally trained, nor have I spent years gathering experience and developing that knowledge as a profession.

This is like shooting a home movie and saying I'm a director, but to each their own. Not trying to offend anyone. Just think people need to respect professions versus hobbyists.

This, while i'd like to learn it, I dont really have the time. Probably going to enroll my 5 year old daughter in some sort of beginner classes. That way I can just make her do it. (Yes, she is smart enough, and yes....she will be good at it....)

I have an entry level camera (D5200) and I have fun with it. I mostly take pictures for me. I've had a few people ask me to do family pictures, etc., and I just do it for tips. It's a fun hobby, but I'll never claim to be a pro at something I dont feel confident I could make a living off it.

    e: D5200, not 5500. I think.

I think we have a Nikon P model. 500 or something. Mostly an automatic. You can change the settings but I dont think its a full DSLR.

It's some panel that an Instagram company came up with that runs along the top of your radio trim panel and allows you to screw in up to 10 arms for various devices
For your extreme overlander with 20 tablets I guess

    It's expensive
    Requires drilling
And still needs more stuff to run your mount of choice

Sounds like a bottomless money pit, intrigued.

On a side note, found this rear shock relocation mount online and started drooling, not that I need it. Love the idea of long travel, just not a fan of giant holes in my truck bed. Any thoughts?

Just finished up with my interview for a frontline management job at work. It would be the position I want to have long term, so here's hoping.

My new favorite interview question ever: "You got the job, it's 6 months from now and everything has gone horribly wrong. What did you mess up?"

It's actually a pretty ingenious question- it forces a candidate to evaluate their own weaknesses and pinpoint the one that might actually get them in trouble.

I said I'd estimate a contract then have someone on the business side tell me that it had to be cheaper to win a bid and because I was 'the new guy' I might feel like they knew better than me and agree to an impossible price target.

I thought you worked in IT?

I'm currently a software engineering lead, the job is management but all our frontline managers also act as engineering managers for programs. Part of their responsibility is proposal work and estimates for new business
