The excursion planning in full force. A lot of Route 66, and Hwy 89! Route planning, pins, maps camping spots, with a little Dr. P and Jim to help the process:curls:

All the stuff i want to see in Northern Arizona is 839 Miles (15 hours) if i visit Havasu Falls. Havasu Falls is out of the way quite a bit since it's on the other side of the Grand Canyon and no road goes straight to it (Have to make a "U" pattern to come back up to it). It's 3 hours from the Grand Canyon Village.

If i skip it, and just visit The Grand Canyon, i'm looking at around 571 Miles (10.5 hours) to the Canyon Village Center. If i just visit the West side of the canyon, i'd say you could probably cut about 1-1.5 hours off that and probably 75 miles both ways or so. Looking at around 425 miles (8 hours) or so w/o having to backtrack.

Not visiting the Grand Canyon or Havasu Falls and just sticking to Monument Valley, Antelope Canyon, Horseshoe Bend, The Wave, and on to Zion National Park, i'm only looking at about 250 miles (5 Hours) driving. Not hardly as bad as i thought it would be to see most of Northern AZ and Southern Utah has to offer!

Decent but a little "conspiracy theory" ish. My thoughts and opinions on traffic and drivers goes further and further into the abyss everyday. Everyday you seem to see something that is more mind blowing than yesterday.

Idk, seems the answer is simpler than conspiracy. The drivers are the problem IMO. An incredible sense of entitlement has creeped its way into almost every drivers mentality, it's insane. Drivers are insane. People just don't give a fuck.

We'll be meeting up with the Moab group (3 of us) at Ft Sill Oklahoma for a weekend reunion of the artillery school training cadre from '75 to '80. Then, we'll head on to Moab. The pair (of drivers) that I'll be following have been there 4 times already. They have a route planned for maximum site seeing adventure. No real schedule after we get there, other than the day we start to pack up for the return trip.

But yes.....See EVERYTHING you can. You never know when a trip may be your LAST big adventure. See it while you can.

And that would be all fine and dandy but I only have 2 weeks off work more than likely to get it done in. Especially if i go solo, that cuts even more time out since I cant trade sleep while someone else cuts into mileage. I'd love to have all the time while I'm out there to just see everything I want to. However, just the little explanation above I'm looking at minimum 1 maybe 2 extra days, unfortunately.

I'd also love just to see and wheel what I'd like, but with probably just me going and while I'm out that way, wheeling isnt priority uno. Theres tons of sites to take in and wake up to so thats my main goal is to see things I may not get the chance to see again. I'll more than likely be down for a wheeling trip if you all decide to go out though.

Man that would be so fun. My wife and I actually started planning a similar run out there, but the whole 2 week thing is almost impossible to achieve. We'd have a lot more stops to visit people though...Wyoming, ect.

There is another run by some Ohio guys planned for June-Julyish to do the Roaming Rally and then head up through Alaska and all that. Also sounds fun, but I don't think I could deal with the bugs...

Where do you all have your CB's mounted inside the cab. Tired of mine just sitting there. Wanting to mount it somewhere where is out of the way but I can still hear it fine. Its a cheap one so it needs to be decently open so i can hear it fine.

If I can get it lol. All you have to do is wire them parallel instead of in a series circuit.

Yeah, a tad "conspiracy theory" ish for sure.

I feel like the sporadic driving behaviors has more to do with poor training and the excessive laws regulating said activity, all wrapped up in inconsistent administration of said laws.

You cant sneeze without getting pulled over, or..... you can pass a cop 30 mph over the speed limit, smoking with kids in the back, no seat belt and drinkin some jack and not get a ticket.

I remember my Driver's Ed and the teacher very well. He didnt want to be there. Couldnt care less. "Just dont kill me, and you'll get your license."
