I’ve recently relocated from the Chicago area and moved to Plain City/Dublin, Ohio turf. Don’t know anyone from TW in these parts so, if anyone is down to meet up some time in the near future for any taco action or to chug a few tinnies, feel free to hit me up. Cheers!!!

Look into bilstein 5100’s. Relatively inexpensive and have a snap ring you can set at factory height if you don’t want lift.

I just put a set on my sequoia. Great on-road improvement over stock, and I kept the same springs

Oh. I don't hardly see those any more. I did see that they put county names back on the current plate design.

I don't understand why Ohio has to have a plate redesign every couple of years. I can think of probably 4 states that have had the same plate design for the past 20 years. :annoyed: /rant

HA. Your plates are cheap, who cares how often they redesign.

I just paid over $600 for plates for two vehicles. AND, we only get one damn plate. This year was just a sticker!

Ohio pays vehicle tax one time. I just paid $270 for my sticker as well. Granted, that's tax money for school, emergency services, library, city/county, that sorta stuff too. Technically, registration and vehicle tax would only be about $150 that depreciates with the vehicle.

    Yikes.
Yeah I cant complain. Its like $55 for the sticker, or $70 if you want new plates+stickers. I dont miss paying tax yearly (or something like that) like when we were in SC and VA.

However, I did bitch about those farm plates for as long as I had them... I LOVE the newest design and think its makes a difference, which is why I had brought it up in the beginning.

Another example, when I lived in Virginia everyone got those bright yellow "Dont tread on me" plates...cool, I get it...but 1. They are an eyesore. 2. In Ohio, bright yellow plates are "party plates" you get after a DUI conviction, so I just couldnt get over everyone wanting yellow plates lol.

I want the Friends Of Coal Kentucky tag. Because black, duh. But I'm not paying $60/year or whatever it is JUST for the plate design.

We pay a 7% sales tax on everything but food.

We also have to pay a "wheel tax" for anything with wheels that will find it's way on the road in this county. (Differs from county to county) $25 every year. Trailers, cars, trucks, 4wheelers, SxS, whatever. $25 each.

My plates were for newer vehicles, so that increased the cost. I used to get out under $300 a year with 3 vehicles.

It was $674 for my '17 Fusion, '14 Explorer and my '01 4Runner this year.

When we went to plate the new vehicles it was around $180 for the two newer ones when we bought them. So, that puts me at close to $1000 in less than a year for plates.

    Question for my local experts...

I’m looking to raise the front of my truck up just a bit. Currently sitting on 5100s all around, OME 885 springs up front and an ICON 3 leaf progressive AAL in the back. I got a hair over 2” of lift with this setup on all four corners which maintained the factory rake. I’m about to buy larger tires and would like to reduce the rake by raising the front .5” or so. I’m debating between replacing the 885s with 887s, bumping the 885s up a notch on the 5100s or adding a small top plate spacer to both sides. My concern with the 887s or moving the 885s up a notch is that they’ll take the front up more than .5” and my concern with the top plate spacer is that I already have a small one on the driver side to correct lean and would need two different size spacers to maintain the almost level look. Any input from experience would be appreciated. Thanks!
