Where did you get the top plate spacer from? The reason I ask is most top plate spacers sit on top of the coil assembly, so you wouldn’t need to take apart the coils.

The spacer sits between the rubber on top of the spring and the top hat.

That’s odd. Did they send installation instructions? The top plate spacer I have installed sits between the coil assembly and coil bucket on the truck. :notsure:

That’s what I was thinking, but wasn’t sure if the wheelers spacer was different than what I received from headstrong.

How does sitting on top change anything? And this means the one I have now is most definitely installed incorrectly... let me go snap a picture

I understand the geometry behind it, I just don’t see how a spacer on top of the top hat pushes the whole assembly down..

And here is how the shop installed my Headstrong 1/4” spacer on the driver side. It’s the corroded thing between the rubber and the top.

Ok, good. I was concerned for a minute there.

And yeah, with all the corrosion and what not, maybe I’ll order new top hats for both sides since I’ll be replacing the studs on the driver’s side anyway.

Oh yeah....I never even looked at the product you linked. Since it goes on top of an assembled coilover....mwc is right...just undo the 3 bolts, drop the whole thing out and stack that bish on top. No real chance of death afterall.

Still...only re-tighten LCA bolts with truck on ground.

Why are you using spacers on top of 885s in the first place?

The 1/4” spacer in there right now is for “lean correction” as it came with my kit.

The additional spacers (moving 1/4” to passenger side and putting a 1/2” on the driver’s side) are going on to help level my lift for the least amount of effort and lowest cost. Right now I’m sitting at almost exactly 2” of lift in the front but since I have a 3 leaf progressive AAL kit installed on the TSB rear leafs and left the overload leaf installed, I got closer to 2.5” of lift over my original rear setup. My current rake is about 1.25” based on hub to fender measurements and I’m trying to take that down to .75” without buying new, longer springs or raising the 885s up and preloading them.

Man, that Pro grill on the third gen looks so much better than the 2nd Gen Pro Grill. Not that it matters for us pre 2012s but looking good @Jordaneckert85!

So I’m leaning towards replacing my upper strut mounts while I’m in there adding my new top plate spacers. I will already have to disassemble the driver’s side to add the longer studs so why not replace the corroded and most likely, worn out mounts and bearings? And yes, I’m aware this increases my chances of dying during the install.

Any insight into which replacements to buy? I found KYB replacements on Amazon for $52 for a pair. Anyone have any experience with them or should I go OEM?

With "stock" studs, you can use as much as 5/8" top plate spacers and still get a full thread through the 3 nuts. 1/4" on passenger side and 1/2" on drivers side is easily done without longer studs. That's what has been on mine for 96,000 miles.

Otherwise, same exact set up as you have....
