This. My truck barely fits now as is. Even after the winch went in the bumper. I probably should pull one of the overloads from the HD Dakars

255/85R16 is yes a 33x10. I bet you mounted its just over 32 (if you are lucky). Mine are around that... I guess I could go pull a tape.

285/75R17 is closer to a 34. You went from a 16" to 17" rim brotato.

If that is what you meant by the 17" rim upgrade comment (I just assumed)

Oh, I may have misunderstood a bit there then myself. I was still hung on a 16" wheel.

If I go 17" wheel, I haven't decided what size to get. Probably 34-35" and go full send and cut/hammer all the things.

Gotcha. I still think 255s would fit for ya.

Yoko says mine are 33.2"...... tape measure says 32.25" on the truck at 35PSI.

Yeah, my 285/70/17s are supposed to be 32.9” according to Nitto. On the truck they’re barely over 32”. I’m considering going 285/75/17 next time I need tires but I do not want to regear or cut and hammer all the things. I already had to chop a ton of plastic and add caster to fit the tires I have now.

I wish someone made a 265/80 or a 275/75 for 17s... or if I could find a true 33x10.5 somewhere. I know BFG sells the KO2 in a 34x10.5 that measures around 33.5 but I do not want to go back down that road.

If you've still got the factory flares on, I don't see the issue. I think @MedlinAround runs 285/70r17 and I've not heard much about rubbing with his truck.
Get UCAs, get different wheels. That's the best way to fix rubbing. Or cut and hammer. Or just run stock tires.
You likely don't need gears for 1/2" of tire size gain, but I'm sure 4.10s wouldn't hurt ya. Again, you don't "off road" like some of us, so I wouldn't bother with gears until you give less fux about your paint and sheet metal.

Factory flares are still on and I have SPC UCAs. No rubbing on the street right now with current tires/alignment. Would probably rub stuffed at full lock.

New wheels are currently on the way. Will be upgrading from stock wheels plus 1.25” spacers to 17x8.5 -10mm offset. I’ll cut more plastic and adjust alignment if needed to keep rubbing to a minimum.

And I don’t feel like the truck needs gears on the 285/70/17s at all. But moving up to 285/75/17s would add at least 15 pounds (tire only) per corner and I don’t want the truck to feel sluggish. I also don’t need tires at all, mine are still practically new. Just thinking about possible upgrades down the road if I wanted something larger. I’m plenty satisfied with the tires I have now and would love to do more “off road” stuff once the suspension and new wheels are on and the alignment is dialed in.

I rub at full lock but not bad. I just let the rubbing clear what needed to be cleared and now it doesn't hardly rub

Haha, mine did that for about a week. I cut a lot of plastic out of the front fender liner and bumper and every so often I’d hear/feel rubbing when in reverse at full lock. I don’t know if it was the second alignment that fixed it or if the tires rubbed away enough plastic that I don’t notice it anymore on the street.

Like I said, I guarantee it would rub off road but I’m waiting until my new wheels and suspension go on before I have the alignment done again. I’m just glad the tire hasn’t made contact with the cab mount. Makes me feel better about spending the money on the UCAs. Lol.

@beertimecontinuum , isn't it precious listening to all these kiddos talk about how hard it is to fit 33s and 34s without rubbing?
