@beertimecontinuum - Can you still use the cat back with the v8? If not, how loud and how much?

I can, probably going a different direction tho. It's pretty loud, drones in the cab on the highway. Same price 150/300$ depending on who's doing the pulling. Would also trade ammo and TP!! You will have to relocate some hangers under there. Any muffler shop could do it but my welder is FUBAR. I should add that for 300$ you could buy the muffler new and have money left over to have any shop do the re-route :anonymous:

Hey @rdpoe, I’ve been researching rear leaf springs and I’m considering pulling the trigger on the Icon RXT pack. I hear you have one installed?

So I’m gonna rely on you to tempt me to bite the bullet and ditch the stock springs plus AAL.

Ripped off all four mudflaps. Scratches all down both sides 6112’s up front on 3rd notch 5100’s in back with Toytech 1” block Skids & sliders from SOS Concepts I got rid of the 1” block and put on Wheelers 1 1/2” progressive AAL. SPC UCA. Be sure your standing on the drivers side when reading the instructions! I swapped sides so many times that I can swap UCA’s in 15 minutes. I put in the 3/4” spacer to eliminate the Taco Lean, and just got my 4th alignment. Traded the OEM rims for 17” Sport rims and a bora bora 1” spacer. I got my Firestone 285/70/17 MT2’s. Pelfreybilt gas tank skid and hi-lift jack should be here Friday. Looking at bumpers, but I think they will wait for next year. So far I’m happy with my build. I’ve done it all myself, leading to a lot of cussing and frustration, but it’s all mine.

Well, you could say I’ve got a few things I can do to pass the time during this quarantine. Lol.

I’ve got a 9” Android headunit and front camera in that box, under hood and bed LEDs in the priority mail package, a new fuel door since one of my hinges broke (needs painted) in the parts box, a Cali Raised stealth mount LED bumper bar in the long box and rear stainless brake lines with new hardware and hard lines I likely won’t ever install.

    Thanks!

I’ve been a big fan of them for a while and the hardest part for my OCD is the lack of a center cap... but I’ve got a plan to clean up and repaint the drums, hubs and front dust caps so we’ll see how it turns out.

Has anyone removed or replaced their power steering rack?

I was under the truck this past weekend prepping for frame rust cleanup and paint and I noticed both inner tie rod boots were covered in power steering fluid... my steering wheel has been vibrating more and more recently and I’m fairly certain the rack is shot.

From what I’ve heard OEM is the best replacement option, but damn these things aren’t cheap. I’ve also heard it’s a huge PITA to get the thing out but then it goes back in without much trouble.

@09TRDSport4x4 - I took mine out when I did the steering rack bushings. It definitely wasn't fun to wrestle around the AC compressor. It seems like it's impossible to get out and then you'll get the right angle and it will slip free.

Can't say that I'd enjoy removing it again.

That seems to be the general consensus... I’m starting to wonder if I could just chop mine into pieces and remove it? I’m not going to have a core charge to worry about and honestly, I don’t care at all to keep the rusted, leaking piece of crap that’s in my truck right now.

But you could've held onto half your lift/diff funds...

Nah. Diff will hopefully be next yr. Tired of having a mostly stock truck. Its something I would've done anyways.

Well, I just ordered a new Cardone rack and all new power steering lines... I just need to find a set of pickle forks for the Energy Suspension bushing install and track down some new bolts/nuts and I should be ready to tackle this project. I fully expect the truck to be down for 3-5 days while I work on it. And once that’s done, I can finally start getting some of the more fun parts installed. I’ll probably throw the new suspension on when I’m done replacing the rack since I’ll need an alignment anyway. Then I’ll get the new wheels mounted and installed.

Not sure if any of you guys know this but there's a shortcut on Rock Auto to view clearanced items, my neighbor taught me it.
1.) Pull up the make, model, and year.
    2.) Click "RSS"
3.) A new window will come up.
4.) Click "RSS" on the right side where it says "Love a bargain?"
5.) And it shows you everything that is clearanced or on sale for that vehicle.
