Anyone have a powder coater they recommend?

Bonus points if you can recommend a textured black and have a photo of it.

I’ve been referred to KillerKoatings in NKY from some in ih8mud. Personally I have never used them.

I've used Killer Koatings, pretty easy to deal with.

    Wrinkle black, no picture.

but theres "razzle dazzle black/silver" that I know exists and sort of meets your requirement.

Just came across your post. Are you still looking for wheels? I have some Black Rhino 18" rims that I took off my '09 Taco. I'll be listing for sale soon. They're matte black with some silver accents if that's your kind of thing. Will snap some pics if interested.

    Great news!

Haven't thought of that. I've never actually done an organized ride, other than the TW rides, usually just a ride with a few friends.

I've heard the camp grounds get annoying, and can imagine a large group would be slow. But don't really know.

It’s not one big group ride. They break it up into smaller groups. I’m signed up for it.

I’d really like to sell my truck but I can’t get even a halfway decent deal on a new vehicle right now… it’s downright frustrating and discouraging. Some dealerships aren’t even taking orders for new cars (they’d prefer to keep selling them right off the truck) and the majority are asking thousands over MSRP and will not budge on price.

So for now, I guess I’ll keep the truck and hope that the lack of use doesn’t cause something stupid to break or give out. It only gets driven as a kid hauler and grocery getter these days, since I started working from home 100% of the time. It’s a shame I can’t sell it to someone who will enjoy and use it…

Mine has been that way the majority of its life. Still gets out every now and then, and they simply lose way less value the lower the miles are kept so no harm in "storing" it a while.

That’s about where my head is at with it right now. I mean… I’ve put less than 7000 miles on it in the last 18 months. And it’s garage kept now that I’m in my new house so I’ll just give the underbody a thorough cleaning and touch up the frame again sometime this spring (since Toyota inspected it and deemed it satisfactory) then I’ll keep up on regular maintenance. I’ll eventually need to have the front axles replaced but other than that, there’s nothing wrong with it. It just hasn’t seen anything off the pavement in over a year and with it as my primary kid hauler, I can’t really risk breaking anything. That and I’d prefer to use my free time to tinker with and work on my other car (the one the kids don’t fit in). I’ll eventually replace the truck with a newer, maintenance and problem free daily driver but the market has to stabilize before I’ll be willing to do anything.

I got my Tacoma at MSRP back in June from Toyota Direct up in Columbus. I had heard all the horror stories of deposits and "market adjustments" though, so I had them draft up the paperwork and I signed it right then. That way I had a legit purchase contract, not just a deposit that they could refund when someone else offered them more money for the truck. It took 10 days for the truck to show up after I paid for it, but that was a concession I was willing to make in this market. I left my 4Runner trade in with them since I could drive my beater Mazda still.

Yeah, I won’t trade my truck in. The offers have easily been $4k to $5k less than what I could get selling it private party. And since I have the title in hand, I don’t mind the little bit of extra work to sell it myself. And I have a second vehicle, but it’s a sports car and the kids don’t easily fit in the back seat…

The issue for me is getting a new vehicle, at least one that I want to pay for, at a reasonable price and in a reasonable amount of time. I have no need for a truck anymore, and with gas prices now over $4 a gallon, I honestly don’t want anything that gets less than 25 mpg around town. Especially since the majority of my “daily” driving is to and from the store or to pickup my kids from their mom’s house. Even with limited use, I’m still filling the truck up every 2 weeks or so. Just because I can only get 200-215 miles on a tank. And I’ll go on the occasional road trip to visit family so I want something that sits up relatively high, comfortable, reliable, with up to date features and decent on gas. Most things the truck is not lol.

At this point, it’s just a waiting game. I’ll give it another few months and see if I can order something at close to MSRP. I’m not worried about selling the truck, even with rising gas prices. The demand for used Tacoma’s is nuts. I get offers on the truck every single time I go to the dealership to pickup parts…
