No desire to go to Haspin.

    A. Know too much about it from years gone by.
    B. Know too much about it because of who goes now.

It's Dirty Turtle without alcohol controls/limits. NOT a good thing for 1000 drunk loons on ATV's wearing baseball caps turned around backwards and throwing glass bottles in the mud holes.

It was a dump 25 years ago when we ran hare scrambles there (on dirt bikes) I was chasing points for AMA District 15 "vet" class. (35 years and older) Had to run most of the events to have a shot @ season championship.

I know a few guys who ride side-by-sides that have been there recently. What they tell me is that the place hasn't changed much. I saw pictures of people racing through the parking area on atvs, with beer bottles in their hands. Also they had stuff stolen from their trucks WHILE AT THE OFFICE paying to get in. It sounds to me like there are better places to go.

Sounds like the big gathering at Rush Off Road here where I am. Except I think everyone camps in the same area at the park, or outside the park.
This past event, just driving to my friend's place to fish the same weekend of the event, I passed about 4 'camps' of drunken muddy vehicles. He's about 3-4 miles from the park itself.

One year, they had Bubba Sparx as their headliner for the concert. I knew then that I'd probably never go, no matter how big a name of rock crawler racers that show up.

Picture, being "worth a thousand words"....What I saw in about 20 photo's was guys in shorts, no shirts, baseball caps turned around backwards, beer(s) in hand, flying through the parking area/pit area on 4-wheelers. While I'm not opposed to freedom, I do know what can happen in a scenario such as that. Do you suppose anyone (rider/park/etc) will accept liability if/when one of these guys slams into your truck? Do you suppose these clowns have insurance of their own. (either liability or medical?) The potential is there to get your ass sued off when BillyBob Bucktooth gets likkered up and hits you while you're slowly winding through the woods.

Also, the theft from parked vehicles concerns me.

When I was 16, I MIGHT have been interested. Now days, I like something a little quieter, more laid back, and less lawless....

I'm all for being able to have a drink or 30 when the time is right. That time is NOT while the possibility of someone getting killed because of it is more of a probability.

I'm still on "Saturday only" status unless something changes. When we get closer, I'll try to work out something to be able to link up. Remote possibility of Friday/Saturday.

Best I can do at this time of the year. J.O.B. sorta requires my participation during peak season.

But does it really? All processes and operation would cease without you there?

I care about my job too, too much in fact. But my boss tells me regularly to "take time off whenever I want. Gotta regroup thyself and say 'fuck work' for at least a long weekend." So I listen to him and do just that.

For those of you not in the Central KY thread, I posted this about ordering a set of 4x innovation frame sliders if anyone is interested in a group buy for better pricing.

I talked to 4X on the phone about shipping the sliders all to one location. He did say it would cut down the price of shipping for the sliders and for the great price he has going for them, cheap shipping is a plus. He said it wouldn't be a problem to take everyone's order separately and then ship them all to one location. Said If I would just give him a call back and let him know everyone's name that wants in so he will know. So far its

Not "all", but the one's I'm responsible for WOULD cease....That's why they pay me what the do....I'm in a critical position. It requires me being here (or at least available on short notice) during peak season activities.

No, they cannot function without me. Not saying that because I think I'm that important....I say that because that's the position I fill here.

How do you think I feel?

My job was Monday thru Friday, 7AM to 3:30PM for years. It's only in the recent years that it evolved to what it is now. I'd LOVE to have my old hours back. But....I'm too old to be starting over at another job. This one pays REALLY well. So I suck it up and stay until I can do better. Between the hours and working for an asshole, it's gone from being the BEST job I ever had to just about the worst. But there is that paycheck thing....Can't walk away from it.
