So when is chapter II?

So far it sounds like some of the crap I've been known to do.!

 

I'm surprised that's all they got fined. OSHA astually isn't government managed. They are a for profit company. All of the fines collected go to them. Hence why u got a reply so fast.

 

Also....if there's dust, or if mud is getting "off property", call EPA. They ARE government, and they ARE the largest pain in the ass known to man.

 

At least until the Donald gets rid of them

 

Not soon enough. I'm from a family of farmers (grew up on one myself) EPA is the natural enemy of farmers. Too much power and assumed authority. Not enough common sense. Just like every OTHER government agency.

I tried this, and it did not work out well. I tried to get em for silt fencing. My dad worked for AEP actually and told me to look into EPA stuff cause they were a major PITA for AEP.

My ignorance on the OSHA thing. I swear when I got the findings in the mail it had a Dept. of Labor logo on it was I was like "Holy shit". Idk...?

Either way. OSHA = Fines and pissed off people.

Part 2:

After the OSHA paperwork came, there appeared to be at least a week lull, where I did not see anyone/any crew on site. It was nice week. We knew it wouldn’t last. They eventually came back and we continued with our dance. They worked. I played music. Nothing happened to much for a good few weeks. Kinda like everyone was making plans for their next move, DG finally got the idea I was pretty pissed off.

We NEVER again saw the same Rhino Construction crew again after that. I do believe they had gotten most of the store shell built by the time the OSHA findings came in. The only time I saw one of them back was the foreman, and he was on site very briefly. Long enough to get out of his vehicle, walk in the building, walk back and leave. Like he left something there. He walked at very brisk, kind of pissed off pace. (Years as a social outcast gave me plenty of time to watch people. Very in tune with peoples body language)

So, it’s hard to keep everything in the exact order of what happened. I may remember something and mention it a bit later…here is some of that right now….When they first poured the concrete foundation, they did it in the freezing cold. Concrete needs a little extra care to cure in freezing weather. They were taking none of those precautions. So I let Building and Zoning have it. Ever heard of concrete curing blankets? No? Cause no one uses them. After bitching at CB&Z, suddenly, the entire foundation was covered in pinkish-orangish curing blankets. Tehehehe, more time and money I cost someone.

I fully realized I would never be able to actually stop the building/opening of the store. So my goal, in that regard had become to cost DG and whoever else as much time and money as I possibly could. Cause that’s all coprorations understand at the end of the day, is their pocket book. Hit em where it hurts most. The bottom line, totally inflate the project budget and make it go over by thousands. Even making it take longer effected the budget. Time is money. Took 6 months to build and open that damn thing. No way they projected it to take that long. They throw those things up overnight it seems.

Also, not long after I started my tirades to the DG CSR line, we started getting calls from Steve, The Project Manager of this site. My wife mostly talked to him, cause I just end up screaming at him.

Steve the PM was more like Steve the PR guy. But that’s ok. My wife and I rocked Steve’s world for 4 months. We had many, many converstaions. I do give the dude credit, he knew what was coming and he still picked up the phone. So he does get my respect in that regard.

With Steve, it was mostly a battle of words. And even there, we ended up stabbing him a good few times. I remember one conversation with him where he tried to place all the blame of the buildings design/setup/loading dock in my back yard on the Site Developers, Bradford Buildings, out of Alabama, with exec’s who all mostly went to Auburn.

Steve tried to tell me “well we don’t really don’t have anything to do with the design of the store”. And I say, “Do you think I’m stupid, like Bradford Buildings just drew up blueprints for a DG store and went and built it willy nilly without ever DG seeing any kind of building plan, BULLSHIT STEVE.”

The best line I ever laid on Steve was “How does guilt by association work for everybody but you and DG Steve??” (Referring to how “Bradford Designs the buildings blah blah blah”)

The way DG works their scheme is they get Bradford Buildings to make 100% of the initial investment into the building. Bradford buys the land. They build the building, they take care of all the other involved crap. Then they “lease” the building to DG. Then DG “rents” the building from Bradford until they recoup the money spent building it. Once they make their money back, they then in turn turn around and sell the store to “investors” and make a profit with DG agreeing to keep supplying the store and do the upkeep and whatnot.

So the end of Feb brought OSHA fines for Rhino Construction. It brought a week of quiet. Work resumed. I kept on the music for the new crews that showed up….drywallers, painters, electricians, parking lot crews, whomever.

Ah, yes, I forgot to mention my signs. Large signs. On 2x4 plywood. And I screwed them to my back fence for crews and passers-by alike to read. I left a sign that said “DG RUINS LIVES” in red lettering, on the back fence for about a month. You could read that damn sign from .5 mile away. My signs where photographed by quite a few contractors.

Then the weather warmed up and The War took some new turns.

Around the end of March, the weather was nice enough that the grass need cut. It was sunny. It was pretty warm. And crews liked to keep looking over in my general direction cause the music. And signs.

So I decided to give them something to fucking look at. (Very early during construction, I did bare ass moon the Rhino Construction from my back door. Not only did they get to see my ass, but they got to see my ass, inside my house, ya know, warm enough were I could bare my ass, while they were bundled up in the cold. I also had my wife buy a pack of bright color brief undies and I would strip down when I got home, open all the curtains and prance around the house in nothing but a pair of red of purple or blue brieft undies. Rhino construction got PLENTY of eyefuls of my 95% pale white ass prancing around my house in speedo like undies just to disgust the fuck outta them. So, they had the music playing and me prancing around inside in underwear while their outside freezing and bundled up. PSYCHOLOGICAL WARFARE.)

I went out and I mowed my back yard in nothing but a pair of red brief underwear and a pair of boots. It was glorious. I felt so free. Oh the picture taking that I caught out of the corner of my eye.

You’d think that mowing your own back yard in a pair of speedo like RED undies and boots would be all kosher. I could be on a PUBLIC beach and no one could say shit.

Apparently not. Especially when you started a war and got a company fined 11K and probably most of the crew fired.

I mowed. I went about my business.

Then came 1PM. And a knock on my front door.

So I opened the door. In nothing but my red brief undies and boots.

And who do you think my dear visitors were?

Why, nothing but 3 of Columbus’ finest Police Officers.

Who followed to serve me a “complaint”, “filed” by the Bradford Building Project Manager, accusing me of WEARING A THONG AND EXPOSING MYSELF TO CREWS WORKING ONSITE.

And my jaw dropped.

And I looked all 3 piece of shit cops, dead in the eye. In RED FUCKING BRIEF UNDERWEAR.

And say “So we can make up whatever the fuck we want nowadays huh?”

Yup, I know TW is very LEO friendly. But fuck LEOs. Nothing but tools to harass the general public when you can walk up to anyone and just make up whatever criminal charge you want.

LEOs who FLAT OUT KNEW THEY WERE LYING AND MAKING FALSE ACCUSTAIONS.

And we’re not talking some run of the mill criminal charge.

I don’t give a shit if a get banned from TW for that sentiment, I got a fuckin reason and I’m allowed to have my life and not be at the mercy some dimwit who’s had 6 months of training then handed a gun. The girl who cuts my hair HAS MORE TRAINING than a damn cop.

I will dig up my original citation, cause ya’ know, it’s worthless without pics. And for evidence that I do have a RIGHT to have the feelings I do about LEOs. I was harassed. I was falsey accused of sexual crimes by the Columbus PD to appease DG who had been in contact with the Columbus Prosecutors Office.

After that, the only choice left was get the fuck out.

Some way in hell, we had to find a way to sell a house we had barely been in 2 years that now had a Dollar General behind it. And did I mention that my master bathroom was torn down to the studs, by me, in the middle of all this and the decision that we need to get out.

In maybe March, I had attempted to started a little re-do on my master bath. It quickly turned into a clusterfuck. Someone had basically built a bathroom, inside a bathroom. They put up new framing, right in front the old drywall and built a new wall in front of it. They half assed redoing the ceiling, so when I got behind the first wall, there was no drywall/ceiling in the little gap between the 2 walls. They bumped out an area they turned into a closet, which was hiding the NEW shower piping and THE OLD SHOWER TILE WALL. What was now a large bathroom had to have once been split into a walk-in bath/shower and a walk in closet. When I got the flooring up I saw where framing would have been for a doorway into a walk-in closet.

At the end of May, we had our realtor who we had worked with several times by now come over and we told her we wanted to sell the house we purchased less than 2 years ago.

Helping us out, was the fact that we bought the house on a short sale. So we go the house under value. Meaning, we could sell, and maybe actually make some money. Our realtor told us we couldn’t have picked a better time as the housing market was incredibly hot at the moment. She said the average house was listed for 2 weeks before getting an offer/being sold. I told her good fucking luck with that monstronsity in the back yard.

I had to get a bathroom built first.

So from May on out, I pretty much quit the DG war and instead focused my time and energy on building a bathroom, so I could sell my house, so I could get the fuck outta there.

I spent June and some of July working/finishing the bath. I just wanted it done. All fancy ideas went out the idea for just having a functioning bathroom.

Mid July we finally got the house listed. The bath was done. We steamed the carpets and my dad came over and we painted some exteriors things, garage door, front door, and front wood facing. House was mostly stucco. It was a pretty stressful time, especially for me. I was doing all this myself. I didn’t do to bad, I managed to only have 1 complete melt down, over some damn baseboards.

We had a TON of showing. Like 1 a day for 2 weeks.

And I shit you not, and to my ever loving amazement, we got an offer.

After just 2 fuckin’ weeks. We couldn’t believe it.

Some back n forth, but we came to a number. And it was a done deal. The closing took a bit longer than normal and was more frustrating as usual but in the end we found out why. Our buyers were moving from Portland, Oregon and the bank was being super I dotty and t crossy.

Finally with our house in contract, we could go look at new houses ourselves.

And did I ever. The hunt was on.

Spend probably 2 weeks running around with my realtor and finally happened upon Baltimore, Ohio. Rode into town, kids out like cockroaches and said “this place is it.” We have 2 main roads and 3 traffic lights. Our biggest “chain” restaurant is Subway and the shopping gets no bigger than….(a Goddamn Dollar General on the outskirts of town. We do not go to it. Ever. I’d rather pay more at the IGA or go to Lancaster than give DG one fucking cent. They even have a little strip mall with 2 spaces to rent next to their store. No one from this family supports that little strip mall and is barred from doing so. And there is a pizza joint in one of the other 2 spots. Will not order from them, money will just end up back in DGs pocket.)

It was. Found a great little ranch on a hill buried in the safety of a neighborhood.

So we put in an offer. It was accepted.

And for a month, when we looked at our house on the Zillow’s, it would say “Pending Escape”

It meant we are selling one and moving into another. It sure felt like real Escape to us.

Luckily, with us being in contract with the new house, we were able to my daughter out of her inner city school and into a school in the middle of a corn field. We had to transport from the Old house out to the new school for a few weeks, but we closed soon after school started and were moved in by the 3 week of school.

In selling the DG house, we make 15K. We made enough money to put a down payment on our new house and ride off into the sunset with 7K in the bank and DG in dust.

Its quieter here. It’s calmer here. It’s safer here.

I think we won.

Another quickie...a good one.

When I first set the speaker up. The foreman fella, walked up to it at one point and tried to splash a bottle of water on/into the speaker. I called the cops on him. They didn't do anything.

Speaker was covered in a trash bag from then on.

I'm not entirely sure the public indecency charge was completely unfounded. I mean it's not exactly like you could honestly say you had no intention of the site seeing you and at this point and you poked a beehive full of construction workers who are probably just as hard headed as you.

I get that you were mad about the DG, but take a step back here- you basically trolled a group of contractors who were just doing the job they got paid for, and demonstrated that you'd go out of your way to get some of them fired for personally doing nothing to you. When people are the collateral damage of a vendetta against a corporation like that, it's always going to result in problems.

At any rate at least it sounds like you have a happy cornfield life now free of dollar general.

 

Follow charges to extinction. You dont want to get pulled over for speeding 20 years from now and find a failure to appear on sex charges warrant. DG would get last laugh.

 

Quite frankly, I was well within my right to inform OSHA. They were clearly violating regulation, regardless. Do I need my kids to see one of them fall and die behind my house? I would NEVER think of getting in any lift without a harness on, been there, done that.

And if they got fired. That's their own damn fault. Shoulda used the proper equipment.

At some point people gotta make a fucking stand against this shit. Greed ruining what is supposed my "Home". My place to relax is now a fucking parking lot going beep beep all day???
