Not terribly...just took some planning, cutting, recutting then connecting. But I had all the needed pieces before hand that helped.

Time to start thinking about parts and planning the revive on my 3rd gen runner.

Alternator, suspension, bushings, exhaust (full, from headers all the way the the back) are currently being shopped.

When I get high into the RPM's, like, over 3500, this think howls like a honda civic modded by a AutoZone teenager. Gotta quiet it down. I've replaced the airbox (because there basically wasn't one. Just a CAI tube with a K&N cone filter on it. I slapped a Volant box in there and it helped a bit.

Alternator needs replaced, probably just hit up RockAuto for that.

Suspension, no lift, will just be replaced with aftermarket parts to improve upon the ride. So, Icon, ADS, or higher end Bilstein. I've also considered going with an OME kit, because they offer everything for the front AND rear. No lift though, if possible. I dont wanna mess with CV axles and shit.

Once that is all done, I will be moving on to the goodies for looks. Roof rack (Prinsu) and wheels and tires. (Maybe just tires.)

Bumpers will be aluminum, and I may just powdercoat them clear....as they may match the silver of the 4runner well.

Then, I'll be retrofitting the headlights for better vision at night and upgrading the factory fog lights, which are projector style now, they just need cleaned and new bulbs.

Toss in some Wet Okeule seat covers and call it a finished project.

I think you'd regret no lift at all. I insist you put 255/85/16s or equivalent 17" variation on it....its like the tire size made for 3rd gens.

If you are redoing it all anyway you could opt for some of the better aftermarket CVs with high angle boots if you are worried.

So, with my Tacoma, I was replacing cv axles about every 8 months.

    That sucks.

Why will I regret no lift?

That's excessive. Even with going off road often. Why so frequent?

No clue. Boots would tear like crazy. I didnt even drive it every day. Probably twice a week. Pain in the ass. Over it.

This 4runner is PLENTY capable offroad, especially how often I utilize it offroad (hardly ever) and I'm not sure adding a couple inches of ground clearance are going to really improve anything. Also, with the suspension set up from ICON, if I decided to lift it, I'd simply have to crank up the coilovers and drop in new springs in the back with some longer shocks. Maybe some brake lines.

You know what. That's too much hassle....lol.

I wouldn't drop big money on one of the high end racing suspensions if you aren't going to wheel it. You don't really stand to gain anything, and the ride quality isn't going to be that much superior on road.

I like the OME set up as far as price goes, but the lift is a minimum of 1.25".
