Old: 5100s with OME 885s and 1/4” and 1/2” top plate spacers

New: Elka 2.5 Extended Travel IFP with 650# springs

I stopped last night after I got the old stuff and the sway bar out and disconnected the outer tie rods from the hubs. I’ll probably install the new power steering rack next, then put everything back in.

Leave it out and drive your truck like a truck, it’s not a sports car. Yes there will be slightly more body roll but it’s not gonna hurt anything.

Edit: With your 650# springs up front you should have even less body roll.

I was thinking that I might leave it out and drive it that way for a bit. Get it aligned after the new rack is in and just see how it feels.

leave it out. You’ll get use to the sway after a week. Ride is much better without it.

100% leave it out. It will feel weird for a week, and then you'll love it

Ripped off all four mudflaps. Scratches all down both sides 6112’s up front on 3rd notch 5100’s in back with Toytech 1” block Skids & sliders from SOS Concepts I got rid of the 1” block and put on Wheelers 1 1/2” progressive AAL. SPC UCA. Be sure your standing on the drivers side when reading the instructions! I swapped sides so many times that I can swap UCA’s in 15 minutes. I put in the 3/4” spacer to eliminate the Taco Lean, and just got my 4th alignment. Traded the OEM rims for 17” Sport rims and a bora bora 1” spacer. I got my Firestone 285/70/17 MT2’s. Pelfreybilt gas tank skid and hi-lift jack should be here Friday. Looking at bumpers, but I think they will wait for next year. So far I’m happy with my build. I’ve done it all myself, leading to a lot of cussing and frustration, but it’s all mine.
Mines on a Tacoma somewhere in Las Vegas. I bought a new one from Helwig but they are much bigger and the hassle of putting it in and taking it out became not worth it. I don’t miss it anymore since I put on the heavier springs.

I can’t argue with you there. Getting it out was a big pain in the ass. It wasn’t until I disconnected the outer tie rods that I was finally able to work it out one side. And even that was a pain, given my space limitations in the garage. Honestly, I’d much rather not reinstall it, I’m just worried how the truck will drive without it. I know it’s said to be more comfortable (which is a big plus for me) but I’ll have to see how the 650# springs feel compared to the 885s that came out.

Sadly though, at the rate things are going for me, it’s gonna be another two or more weeks before I’m able to swap the power steering rack and get the truck put back together enough to drive again... unless I burn a few more vacation days and spend them in the garage.

It seriously will take you two weeks to like not having it then another two weeks to love not having it. You’ll be telling yourself you made a mistake for the first 4 days.

I added this sticker to my door...mainly for my wife.

Personally I prefer the way handles with the swaybar, especially with the thicker bar. It turned like it was on rails, but limited things while on rocks. The heavier springs definitely helped things out.

I broke down and bought a set of Amazon headlights. My lenses are getting cloudy so I thought I’d change things up. I’ll probably regret not getting the $6-700 dollar set,,,,, but we’ll see.

If you did, someone did a very good job putting it back together, stealing it from my garage and then sneaking it back in and taking it apart again.

Your Public Service Announcement for today:

If you have a snorkel and have Safelite replace your badly cracked windshield, the snorkel has to come off.

If he demands the Prinsu roof rack off, you may see a story about an eastside incident on the noon news today.

Haha, that’s fair. I’m hopeful I’ll be finished soon too!

But, without getting into too much detail, life has been kicking my butt the last month or so. However, there is light at the end of the tunnel. As of next Monday, I will no longer be responsible for either of the two houses I’ve had in my name since before the divorce... Also, for the record, I haven’t lived in either one of those houses for the last three years but I’ve been paying for half of one (the other was rented). The one is pending sale and the ex is buying me out of the rental and moving there this weekend.

So yeah, the truck has been on the back burner as I’ve been busy cleaning up the shit show my renters left behind... which leads me to my public service announcement for the day:

Don’t rent a house that you (or your ex and kids) plan on living in ever again. Renters, as courteous and respectful as they may seem, will destroy your shit and won’t treat the house the same way you would...
