Update - I'm wondering if my axle may not be interfacing squarely with the bearing. I'm going to try swapping in my spare OEM one when I change the bearing to see if that helps.

Ordered new bearings from the dude on here, and about to set a speed record for how quickly I can swap out bearings, thanks to just doing them a few months ago.

Sounds like a good time. My wife would probably stay entertained in the pool and I'd stay entertained with the goat and trucks. Unless I missed it...approx where is this in OH, KY, or IN?

I’ve done it all myself, leading to a lot of cussing and frustration, but it’s all mine.
I forgot the dust plate on one side and tried to put the dust plate on backwards on the other side,,, I got pretty fast at it too.

@05Taco4x4 is the new hub builder IIRC. The other guy's thread had some unfavorable opinions posted in the end.
You might have a 'bad' spindle, too. Alignment, steering rack, all ball joints and pivot points, etc. Anything attached to the spindle/hub out of skew can do it.

I just bought a Beck/Arnley myself for driver side, cheaper with shipping than the O'Reilly special I put on the passenger a couple years ago. That went out around 40k or so maybe, driver is over 90k. Upside, the noise from it stopped when I put on 35s :D

Were broken studs part of the complaints? I didn’t say anything about the problems I had.

Not certain on that front. Most of what I saw were orders placed, money taken, yet lack of communication from the guy and folks not getting their hubs at all.
There's a thread or 2 around I found at some point, that had more details.

All the ball joints are relatively new and have no play in them. The steering rack seems fine. I looked at how the spindle supports the bearing, and it's really just held in by the front part of the hub that bolts in. The alignment was perfect. So really everything points to a bad quality bearing. Hopefully the one you get is better than the one I got. RockAuto is returning it for store credit given that it lasted so few miles and that it's my second Beck/arnley.

On a side note, my homemade axle puller worked amazing. I'll definitely have to keep it in the truck for any trailside repairs. Also only took 30 minutes to get the old bearing off and axle out. I'm getting a lot faster at this.20201006_172235.jpg 20201006_172204.jpg

Would been a lot nicer if my axle had came out that easily. Beat, banged, pulled will a puller, took it to a shop and they lifted the truck, banged, pulled, and finally got that sucker out. That little clip works well sometimes lol

Read somewhere here, that you need to be sure the circlip opening is facing DOWN when installing them. Maybe so, maybe no.

I read that too. I took two swings with the hammer and it didn't budge, so I rotated it 90 degrees took two more swings and it popped right out. Not sure if I hit it harder, or I rotated it so the opening was facing down. Either way it took just a few seconds. The last time I pulled one of these it put up a heck of a fight, so I'm definitely happy with my rope.

Visually comparing the Beck/arnley to the new one. The o-ring that seals the hub to the knuckle is much smaller on the Beck/arnley. I wonder if that didn't have a tight seal, and water got into the bearing.20201007_130217.jpg
