Cinder Hills Takeover! Labor Day weekend

I mean you can make it as mild or wild as you want. Probably won’t be taking the rav4 up the big soft hills but you’d be fine driving around and doing a little exploring

 

When you figure out dates, I'd love to make it if I can. Haven't been to Cinder Hills and heard it's breathtaking.

 

It’s pretty different than anywhere else. Just trying to throw ideas around with everyone and lock dates down that seem best

 

I'll be passing through around the 6th or 7th. Depends on how side tracked I get in Utah that week.

 

Going to have to keep my eye on this one. I wanna go but if it's in the next few months I'm gonna be out. Too many trips going and I need to find some time to get that 3rz in the 4 runner before 4th of July!

 

Been 30+ years since I've played in the cinder hills -- does the Cinder Lakes Apollo Training Area still exist? It used to be within a fenced-in area somewhere out there.

 

Don’t think it’s still there. If it is I haven’t seen it and I’ve been all over just about everywhere there between the bike and the truck over the years.

 

Well shoot, hung out with the race team last night and forgot we are trying to run the ultra 4 race in Montana in May. Probably a good thing since May was seeming a little short notice for non local ish people here. Pushing it back to September since it should still be great camping weather and not too hot during the day. Gonna be adding a poll to the thread for people to vote on.

September works better for me and the maintenance schedule. Trying to get the truck converted to SUA before this trip!

 

When the more built up trucks go to rip in the cinders you and any of the less built vehicles could do the around the peaks loop. It is right at your vehicles level and has some great views

 

Think you quoted the wrong person. My vehicle will never make that loop. I’m too scared

 

My birthday is the middle of September and would love if this worked out as my getaway!

I’ve been wanting to get out there and my wife’s been bugging to go to Sedona again. Plus my birthday is in September. Hopefully I can get my front bypasses on by then
