Because I have heimed uppers I also thought about solid mounting the lowers but was turned away from it with the explanation to go with the gussets and the guys that solid mount do it cause they have seriously fucked their own and can't use the lowers to align anymore.

It's your choice regardless but I would like to hear some opinions on this mod.

I can use my lowers to align still. I went to solid lower cuz I think the cams are a shit design with an aftermarket arm that has bushings. The alignments went ok with the stock arms because of the surface the cam bolt was pinching was rounded and could handle some positive caster. The bushings only like to be evenly aligned in the mounts so it was a no brainer for me to solid mount the lower. So far it has been what the doctor ordered and reccomend it to anyone who can spend the time to align with the upper arm as it can be consuming the first time

I'm going to be keeping an eye on the cams after I install these gussets and see if they keep moving while wheeling. If so, I'll be switching to solid mount lowers.

Sconnie, please explain a bit on how you still align with the lowers while being solid mounted. Is there some tolerance still to play with still?

Sorry I just meant I can still use the cams if I wanted to in response to Jon saying the only guys who solid mount are the ones who can't anymore with cams cuz their stuff is jacked. On my phone and its early haha. I definitely can't align with the lower when the solid mount tabs are in there.

    Explain?

Note: I'm not saying do or do not I'm just going with what I was told by TC and a few others. I have LT friends that have the cam gussets and are yet to knock out alignment even after being airborne and flying up AZ washes. What caused the solid mount for you? And how is alignment at the heims? I'm not sure many shops would even take that on yet alone me trusting them to remove my UCA bolt. Do you have a set of turntables and do your own alignment?

aren't cam gussets more for impact protection? so desert guys really wouldn't have to worry much about damaging their cam tabs...

Yes I have done my own alignments for a while now. I will take it in one of these days to see if the numbers I got match what they tell me.

My problem may have just been cam bolts that wouldn't stay torqued. Which led to them moving. Seemed like I always had trouble keeping those cams tight. Never tried new cams just said hell with them and solid mounted since I think it's better anyways.

I'm going to be getting turn tables and toe plates if I decide to solid mount. No alignment shop is going to touch that unless you really know them.

    Sarcasm?

Flying up a wash at 65+ getting airborne is certainly an easy way to bash your LCA and Cams. Just like smashing down on a rock while crawling.

Sounds like a plan. 50/50 on the Big Dogs meet, lot of $$$ just to camp.
