    When I get myself a DD it will NEVER be auto. Only reason I thought about getting a different truck!

    I felt the same way but couldn't be picky with what I was willing to spend to bomb around in. Was wanting a FRS for a DD bit can't bring myself to shell out 28K.

    That's where I'm at. I'm gonna be trying for under 15 so basically getting new won't happen. I'll settle for an older model like what you're getting. But it will have to be a stick

    You need to come up with a stainless steel leader hose that you could run to a check valve or a DOT NPT straight union and run some DOT air line. That home grade air compressor hose isn't gonna cut it. Easy fix. Could even Tee off a gauge with a remote sender for in-cab air pressure.

    Bullaculla machined me a big heat sink, going to try that. Then move to something like this if that doesn't work.

    I used to have a bagged truck with 12 gallons of OBA, basically you need some hard line or stainless steel leader hose coming off the compressor because the air temps and transmitted heat through the compressor body itself is almost always enough to deteriorate rubber or even heat resistant DOT air line.

    Interested in seeing how the heat sink works out!

    15k is exactly what I was willing to spend. Hard to find something decent with much less than that to spend.

    Leader hoses are easy to come by, just need to know what size your female fittings are on the compressor. My plan is to do a compressor, with a 1 gallon tank or just run a manifold block and leader hose to the block and plumb everything off that with DOT air line and fittings. Virtually a leak proof set up thats done right. Going to start piecing together my OBA set up soon so I have it set up for OBX beach runs and all that good stuff.

    Gauges, endless posibilities. You can run one just for your front locker's circuit with simple tee's and check valves in front of the locker valve so if you lose air pressure (IE hose blows off compressor etc..) your lockers will still remain engaged. I'd go this route with lockers front/rear so you can easily troubleshoot the issue on the side of the trail.
    Manual gauges are even cheaper/simpler but you'll have to run some 1/8" airline to wherever you mount them.

    I definitely want to isolate the lockers in some sort of fashion. Don't think a check valve on the solenoids will work though since it needs to exhaust the air through there when disengaging. As far as pressure gauges, not interested at this time since I don't have a tank.


    60" Hi-Lift got delivered today! I'll make someone a good deal on a Reese 48" farm jack.

    Ahhh you are right about the check valves. Most of my OBA experience is with air ride suspension, with dump and fill valves. If you just add another solenoid and a dual pole switch to hit each solenoid valve. Install the dump in front of the check valve

    I need a 60" I max my 48 out on the street

    Yeah, the new rear end set-up puts the 48" to the limit on the street for me.

    Bullaculla machined me a great looking heat sink for the air compressor. Unfortunately it doesn't transfer enough heat. Gonna have to go the braided line route now.
