    It's nothing personal. Like I said there is a big section of people on this forum that don't have this information so I get a bit uptight when all aftermarket filters get chucked under the bus in favour of the stealer ship model. That thread gets referenced all the time, when really it doesn't tell the whole story on filters. That thread is just the beginning...

    There are lots of filters IMHO that you shouldn't use (anything fram and anything smaller than stock), and more than one that you could use in place of the OEM filter (oversized filters by Bosch/purolator). I was serious about tearing one apart yourself. I had a Toyota filter fail me (it's in a picture a few pages back) so even good filters fail from time to time. Like a good filter though the failure was not catastrophic.

    Also sorry OP, I stole your thread to go crusading. I hope your local dealer takes good care of you truck and makes that noise disappear. I still think fuel is likely the biggest reason you hear pinging.
