Clanking/dragging/major shudder when in 4wd

    2012 AC LB 4x4 Sr5
    Today was driving my truck and it was super snowy conditions and I put my truck in 4wd. No problems per usual then bam out of no where( was going about 40 in 4hi)
    It like locked up on the front and then was loud clanking/ shudders.
    I came to a complete stop. Tried putting it out of 4wd and it didn’t want to go at first then it go out and drive just fine. Is my transfer case fucked or what ? Help
