I recently upgraded all my factory door speakers to 6.5" image dynamics components up front and coaxial in rear, they can handle 100 watts rms each. I installed the clarion xc1410 to factory head unit via high (speaker) level input so I've got the switch on the amp on the "high" setting. I was messing with it yesterday and switched it to the "low" setting and it's so much louder. Would I be risking doing damage to the amp if I leave it on low? I know it's supposed to be on high but just wondering.

I also installed a kicker hideaway powered sub the same way, via high level input and when I switch it to low it's way louder also. Is this something I should not do or would it be ok? I'm not an audio guru, just wanted something better than stock. Any advice or opinions would be appreciated from you guys that know more about this than I do.

The clarion xc1410 is a great little amp. If it sounds better switched to low leave it. It can take it.

Thanks for the reply. I've asked a couple people not on TW and they all said it could possibly damage it. Didn't really explain how but I'm tempted to just leave it on low anyway just not sure what exactly it does by switching it.

I can't see how. Maybe if it was cranked all the way for a long time. Idk I think it will be fine. I had mine in the fairing of my Street Glide. And it would get hot on 90+ degree days. Not much air getting in. It played for hours on rides.
