Oh! I almost forgot, the real old-school Toyota pickups had a solid axle in the front. So that's an idea, too, if you're in the mood for a big project.

So this is my 2007 that will be my DD so the 02 can be saved from the $hitty winters here. The PO had a mesh grill on it and i am not a fan so i took a old Toyota emblem from 94 ish truck and just laid it up to see what it looks like .... I like it.

SO what does this have to do with the CLASSIC TOYOTA look on my 2002 ?

Well the grill in the parts 04 has issues and would be perfect for some mesh and a Emblem

I want to do the TOYOTA across the tailgate of the 1st gen AND my 2nd gen truck does anyone have the size lettering ? we have a guy who we use at work that i am going to ask.

YES kind of ...... looks like a slightly modified truck with time period parts. i want to do the same eg, stay away from the LED light bars and use more of a Hella 500 light as thats what would of been on the truck back then. Anyone catching the look i am trying to get ?

Good compromise between the no fender flares classic look and I'm guessing the usefulness of fender flares blocking rain in the summer and road sludge in the winter. Simple is the word I'm thinking of with these older looking trucks. Then the details stand out like the cool decals and maybe a (not my preference) nerf roll bar or grill guard. To me the classic trucks always looked super clean - probably because they had to be over maintained in order not to rust away to nothing in Maine where I grew up lol.
