It took me about 25 minutes to do the entire truck. I probably should have used two clay bars because it was getting very difficult near the end to kneed the clay "clean" again. A good waxing after claying your vehicle is a must.

That's good to hear. I estimated 15-30 minutes on page one of this thread and got worried when other people were estimating up to two hours.

Slightly off-topic, but I timed a wax and buff on my truck this morning and it took 18 minutes using CSI Q-7 Wax. I think I used too much product and could get it down in the 12-15 minute range if I used less.

easiest way to clay bar is to wash one panel and then clay it while cover in soapy water. should take less than 30 minutes to do entire truck

for pinstripes, we removed by hand and then wiped some adhesive remover where the stripes where and then washed, could never tell it had stripes. best to add some wax aver that too when done

I did two details in the last week that needed clay REALLY badly...definitely not the 15-30 minute variety.

I did an SSR that required about 45 minutes of claying and a Magnum that needed about an hour. The tailgate on the Magnum was ridiculous...about 5 passes to get it perfectly smooth.

So, I'll stick to my original 15-30 minute estimate for a vehicle that has been well taken care of, and up to an hour for the trashed ones. :D

I just finished claying my truck and was AMAZED at how smooth the paint is now, even with just 1 coat of wax. I had a question. My mother's 530i has a clear bra over the entire hood, fenders, bumper, and a few other places. Is it safe to use a clay bar on the plastic bra, then wax it? I know when we put it on the guy gave us Plexus to use to keep the dirt out of the pores of the plastic, so I figure the clay could pull out all the dirt and then I could wax it. Any ideas, guys?

Do a small area first, gently, and see what happens. I've had mixed results on plastic.
