I just got my regular carfax report and according to them, my truck is currently worth more than I paid for it when I bought it new

    Gotta love these trucks.

Had a fun day driving through the wilderness today…

    Velociraptor vibes:

    IMG_8589.jpg

A season-appropriate discovery…I found an old cemetery in the woods. Some of the headstones had death dates in the 1850’s:

    IMG_8588.jpg

Clearly, I also found a lot of mud:

    IMG_8584.jpg IMG_8585.jpg IMG_8587.jpg

I also acquired a gnarly new pinstripe on my hood from a low branch while I was trying to get off the trail to let a guy on an Enduro pass. You’re welcome good sir lol.

On the way back home from a trip this morning I hit a pretty impressive MPG number. My speedometer is accurate, for those wondering.

I averaged 24.4mpg over an 83 mile stretch (passenger took the pics). This whole “clean build” thing is awesome.

I’m about to hit 40K miles on the Grabbers and part of me wants to keep them on the truck long-term….for science.

Besides the cupping, they are wearing extremely well (longevity wise). I’ll post a few pics when a tread depth gauge once I actually hit 40K on this set. I think it’ll be later this week.

Now I’m torn between replacing them soon-ish because they have a few plugs and are loud, or keeping them on the truck and seeing how many miles I can get out of them. Based on where they were last time I measured, I think I would be able to get at least 80K out of this set if I don’t get any punctures (and it’s only a 4 tire rotation, not 5).

Id say if they’re wearing well and still good in rain/snow keep them.

Myself, once the tires lose grip in the rain it’s time to replace. Even more so with trucks since the back tires like to slip.

I’ll probably get another year out of my st Maxx if I keep my driving down. I don’t see getting to 40k on them but with how much I drive now, that would be another 2 to 2.5 years.

Yeah the rain/snow is a good benchmark. These are still great in wet conditions and I’ve never had the back end break loose. Yet lol

How did it drive with the 2 inch leveling kit? I know they get a lot of hate, but I'm looking at doing an add a leaf to help support my topper, and bringing the front up with the leveling kit. I'd rather save 5100s until my truck actually needs new struts. My SR has a similar intention to yours; not looking to do hard core off roading, just need need to do some occasional light off roading to get to a trail heads.

I thought it was completely fine with the spacers. They do get a lot of hate but in my opinion, they’re a great short term solution if you’re saving up and you don’t take the truck on any crazy trails.

I’d do the same thing over again if I had to go back and start over from scratch. It was a really good place holder to keep the truck level until I felt like I needed the 5100’s because I was getting out into harder and longer trails.

What made you decide to lower your 5100s to the 4th perch? Any difference from the 5th in terms of ride quality? Had 5100s on my 2nd gen and absolutely loved them!

BTW, this thread has been super helpful and inspirational!

Thanks so much for the kind words, I’m glad it’s been helpful!

As far as I can tell so far, the ride quality is the same between the 5th and 4th perch. I lowered it for two reasons:

    1) The truck had a slight rake and the front was just a bit higher than the rear, which I can’t stand. Obviously it was even worse when the bed was loaded down. It’s perfectly level now on the 4th perch.

    2) My tires looked really small and goofy with the full 2” lift. They still look small but it’s a bit better now at 1.55” of lift. Plus it’s a little easier to get into the truck lol
