That's good to know if I go the 5100s and AAL soon (or a spacer for that matter), as I too have an ARE topper and 265/70r17 tires. That's always the great debate with the billies, 4th vs 5th notch. No one likes that Carolina squat, especially down here in TN! Haha.

lol yeah it was tolerable when the bed was unloaded because it looked fine depending on where it was parked. But as soon as I loaded it up for a trip it looked terrible.

I have the AAL plus a 1/2” shim and it’s still just level at the 4th notch. Theoretically the 4th notch should give the front shocks more down travel than at the 5th notch also.

One more question, did you leave the overload spring in when you added the Icon 3 AAL? Thanks!

I removed it! I think in hindsight I probably should have left it though. I’m barely level as it sits now

Thanks again…decisions, decisions. At least 1.5” front back, you’re well working factory spec of drivelines, CV, etc which is attractive…

    Did you mean well within?

Yeah I don’t ever see a need to go any higher. It gives me the little bit of extra clearance I need for the type of trails that I drive but it isn’t so crazy that I need new UCAs or anything.

Same! I’m not trying to go rock crawling in my new $40k truck that I intend to drive for the next 15-20 years…

lol yeah I totally get that, I wouldn’t mind rock crawling but I just get more enjoyment out of doing more of the long trails through national parks and that type of thing. I probably should have skids and sliders but I really love how light and clean the truck is for all the long highway trips I make.

I plan on keeping mine for just as long. It’ll have moon miles by then

I just got done with a ~1,300 mile trip to the Outer Banks that spanned about a week.

Everything worked great and I am SO thankful for my diode dynamics fog lights and the WeBoost, both were life savers.

Well I’m sure they’ll do better than those 2 worn out ST Maxx’s!

Nah not this time, I paid for the weekly beach pass last trip. It’s expensive-ish though and I didn’t feel like paying again this time.

I also don’t fish, so I’ve realized that the juice really isn’t worth the squeeze driving along the beach. I can see more just walking around and I don’t have to air up/down and then clean all the sand off the truck.

That makes a lot of sense. I didn’t do any beach driving last time at the ocean either. Wasn’t worth the $120 for a year pass that I’ll only go on there once for a few hours. The other stuff is also annoying to deal with… hell, just adding air in my tires at home is annoying lol.

you get anything from Black Friday sales for your truck? Anything else planned?

Yep that is exactly how I feel.

Nooope I escaped Black Friday safe and sound lol.

I think the next thing I’ll probably do is tires. Not that I need them right now but I’m tired of the road noise with these. I feel like at this point I could just get a mud terrain and have the same noise level.

Other than that, I have everything I need at the moment so I’m in one of the drive it a lot and enjoy it phases.

That’s always great to hear. I also survived Black Friday without spending money on my truck. There’s a slight chance I’ll order a snorkel again after seeing the prices of the 24s :anonymous:

Replaced the cabin air filter today…Old (right) v. New (left):

    IMG_8812.jpg

I also checked the tread depth on the grabbers again. This set has 42K miles on them and all 4 tires are still at 11/32nds. They came new with 16/32nds. Maybe I’m doing my math wrong but if we assume that 2/32nds is the end of a tire’s life…I think I can get 100K miles out of these?

    IMG_8814.jpg

    Specs when new:

    IMG_8815.jpg

That has to be wrong, I can’t imagine a set of tires would last that long. I’m bad at the maths so if anyone wants to correct me, feel free.

I only use 87 octane but I don’t have any aftermarket coil packs or anything like that.

Well this looks like it’s going to be awesome:

    https://youtu.be/X-Wloz5qYJg?si=iOFJHSS5B9mbEGCb

I was a huge fan of the season they spent in Alaska. The most recent one in Iceland I didn’t find as interesting but I have high hopes for their Africa series.
